Last night, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. It’s their very first interview since they made their exit from the royal family. 

As predicted, Harry and Meghan dropped plenty of bombshells. Among the topics discussed were concerns over baby Archie’s skin, Harry’s relationship with his family, and the negative press against Meghan.

Since Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, the former “Suits” actress has received negative publicity from the British press. The constant harassment took a toll on Markle, and was one of the deciding factors in the couple’s exit.

Markle revealed to Oprah, that she struggled with her mental health during the attacks from the press. The Duchess admitted that at one point she was having suicidal thoughts.

Harry sought out help from his family in order to stop the tabloids’ smear campaign. However, the family didn’t step in to help, and the press continued with their negativity towards Meghan.

Concerned over his wife’s health, Harry and Meghan made the decision to exit the royal family. As Harry would explain to Oprah, he was worried about “history repeating itself,” referring to his late mother Princess Diana.

In her interview, Meghan voiced her suspicions that the royal family may have played a role in the smear campaign against her. The 39-year-old said she believes, the family was responsible for continuing to spread lies about her and Harry.

One person, who may have contributed to the negative attacks on Meghan, is Harry’s brother Prince William. According to rumors, William  was in cahoots with the British press and encouraged them to continue their attacks on Meghan.

Days prior to Harry and Meghan’s interview, the press were at it once again. Tabloids published stories suggesting Meghan was a bully to staffers at the palace.

The timing of the article was suspicion with many believing it was to derail attention away from the couple’s interview.

Rumors of an estrangement between Harry and William have been circulating since 2019. The brothers’ rift reportedly stems from William’s concern over Harry’s whirlwind relationship with Meghan. However, other reports say that any rift between the two began long before Meghan came into the picture.

In the past, Harry says he loves his brother, but admits their on different paths. A statement he reiterated to Oprah.

Aside from William, Harry also had a strained relationship with his dad. Harry admitted that Prince Charles was so upset over Harry’s royal exit that he stopped taking his son’s calls. However, Harry says that the two are now on good terms.

Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah created quite a stir.

Although, the British press is continuing with their criticism towards the couple, others are applauding the pair. Meghan’s “Suits” co-star Patrick J. Adams along with Serena Williams and Chrissy Teigen have come to her defense.

While the royal family still has its defenders, the interview has caused many to see them in a negative light. The family’s refusal to help stop the tabloids’ bullying and their concern over Archie’s skin color, has many aghast at the behavior of the royals.
