Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck's 'Divorce Papers Are Done' But They Are Trying To Rekindle Romance

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly taking steps to revive their romance following months-long speculation of an "imminent" divorce.

A source shared that the couple has been secretly working to rekindle the flame that once brought them together and has opted to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

Jennifer Lopez recently threw an early birthday bash attended by friends and family; however, Ben Affleck was nowhere to be seen.

The embattled couple has been trailed by rumors of a split for several months now and has not been sighted together since June. They even spent time apart on several important family dates, like their second wedding anniversary and the July 4th holidays.

Rumors about their troubled marriage intensified when it was reported that Lopez wanted half of her husband's fortune if they were to divorce.

However, there now appears to be a ray of hope as a source disclosed that they've been secretly working to revive their union by keeping it out of the public eye.

"Jen and Ben agreed it is best to take some time apart so they can really figure out what it is that they want," an insider told the Daily Mail.

"They were ready to throw in the towel. Divorce papers are done and ready to be filed. But they wanted to give it one last go before walking away from this and are going back to the beginning by writing each other letters. This is what made them fall in love in the first place," the source added.

The "Jenny From The Block" singer and the "Argo" actor's marriage seemed to have been wrapped up after a source told Fox News that they were "not getting back together."

It comes amid their continuous rare appearances as Lopez remains in the Hamptons while Affleck stays back in L.A.

"They are not getting back together," the insider claimed. "They have no plans to announce that they aren't a couple right now. JLo wanted to make it work really badly, he's just a different person to her now."

Another source previously speculated that their marital woes may be because of the public attention Lopez's films, "This Is Me… Now: A Love Story" and "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," brought to their relationship.

If the news of their potential reunion is anything to go by, it remains to be seen if the "Let's Get Loud" singer would reconsider her lifestyle, which was understood to be a bone of contention between her and the "Gone Girl" actor.

A source recently told OK! Magazine that Lopez was Affleck's dream girl, but she was bringing "too much drama" into his life with her global popularity.

"Jennifer was Ben's dream woman. It was drama all the time," the source told the news outlet. "He's feeling down about it and is upset and depressed it didn't work out, even though he knows ending it is the right thing to do."

The insider also disclosed that their lifestyle differences played a significant part in their alleged marital woes, as Lopez has a "big entourage that follows her around daily," something that Affleck is known to be uncomfortable with.

"She's tried to make Ben understand that being Jennifer Lopez is a 24/7 job," the source explained.

They continued, "She is her brand, she lives and breathes it while Ben can leave his work at the door if he chooses to. Jennifer's keeping her head up. She doesn't want to be seen as the villain."

Ahead of her 55th birthday on Wednesday, the "Atlas" actress held a private pre-birthday bash in the Hamptons on Sunday.

Her family and close friends attended the "Bridgerton"-themed celebration, including her long-time manager Benny Medina, her son Max and sister Lynda. However, Affleck was nowhere to be found at the event.

Lopez wore a white romper adorned with flowers and styled her hair in a ponytail as she treated guests to tasty cuisine, including fried calamari, meatballs with ricotta, artichoke alla romano, salads, chicken parm, spicy rigatoni alla vodka, spaghetti aglio olio, lobster benedict, grilled salmon piccata over spinach, and more.

A source told Page Six that Lopez became emotional during the party as she recounted stories from her past experiences.
