During his appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," the host asked Reynolds if "Deadpool & Wolverine" was the "greatest film he'd ever made," to which the 47-year-old actor responded, "I mean, look. Most of the time, when the movie is this much fun to make you f-cked up bad like something went wrong."
"You review the budget, and you're like, 'What's miscellaneous?' and you find out later, 'Oh, that's cocaine.' So like, 'Oh okay,'" he added as the audience and Fallon laughed. "What was crazy about this one was it was the best filming experience I've ever had."
"You know, working with my basically ... Hugh and I, what you see is what you get, genuinely. He's been my closest friend for 17 years. Shawn Levy, this is our third movie together," Reynolds continued. "I have never felt a set closer that cared for each other more than this film. And the end product, or the final version, of this is better than anything I've ever done in my life, and I'm just thrilled."
"So, that's why we're everywhere; we're talking about this because we love it. We love what we get to do," the actor concluded.
Hugh Jackman And Ryan Reynolds Acknowledge The Expectations For 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
At the "Deadpool & Wolverine" premiere in New York on Monday, the duo opened up to Deadline about the pressure they felt to meet fans' "sky-high" expectations for bringing their beloved characters together on the big screen.
“I think both of us had such high expectations for the movie,” Jackman said. “So, yeah there’s risk because we wanted this to exceed those expectations, and both of these characters mean so much to us. Our friendship is one of the most important things in my life. So, we wanted to be as great as we could be, and thankfully for me, it’s exceeded everyone.”
Reynolds then chimed in, “Those same tenants could be broadly applied to the audiences of these movies. I mean, their expectations are sky-high. And you can’t just meet them, you have to exceed them, not just in one sequence or broadly, in every moment of the movie."
"Deadpool & Wolverine" will hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
