The movie is projected to have a colossal domestic opening of over $165 million this weekend, which would set a record for the highest-grossing R-rated debut of all time.

“We kept waiting for pushback," director Shawn Levy admitted, per The Hollywood Reporter. "We would turn in drafts of the script, we would turn in cuts of the movie, and we waited for what we thought was the inevitable Disney or Marvel request to tone it down; those requests never came. We had absolute creative freedom.”

With the "Deadpool" movies being so popular, fans are wondering if this will be the final film in the franchise. Ryan Reynolds has now weighed in.

When speaking to Jess Cagle on SiriusXM on Friday, July 19, Ryan Reynolds recounted how he, co-star Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy managed to persuade Madonna, the Queen of Pop, to greenlight her 1989 hit for the upcoming superhero film.

“It did involve a personal visit to Madonna, where we showed Madonna the sequence where ‘Like a Prayer’ would be used,” director Shawn Levy said on the radio.

“Also, let’s preface it with the fact that they don’t license — that Madonna doesn’t just license the song, particularly that song,” Reynolds added. “It was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it. We went over and met with her and sort of showed her how it was being used, and where, and why.”

When meeting the Queen of Pop, Reynolds joked that he had to ask one of Madonna’s team members how to appropriately address the iconic singer.

“Like am I allowed to just say, ‘Madonna?’” he said on the radio show. “Like, ‘Hello Madonna, I’m Ryan.’”

She ultimately granted them permission to use the No. 1 Billboard Charts song. “She gave a great note,” Reynolds said. “She watched it, and I’m not kidding, [she said], ‘You need to do this.’ And damn it, if she wasn’t like spot on.”

When speaking to Variety about the upcoming MCU movie, Ryan Reynolds talked about fitness and how much it plays into the role of Deadpool.

"It’s not so much about the aesthetic, though I have to fill out the suit," he admitted. "But you want people to see that you’re putting in the work. It makes me feel like I earned it. I have an intense relationship with Deadpool. My middle daughter said, 'Daddy, when can you stop Deadpooling?' I was like, 'Soon, baby. I promise.'"

Hugh Jackman then chimed in, joking, "You do have to stop wearing that mask in the house."

"Deadpool & Wolverine" hits theaters on July 26.
