Sacha Baron Cohen is known for his excellent comedy in the "Borat" films. The movie, styled as a "mockumentary," tackled U.S. politics head-on, resulting in plenty of laughs and cringes from the viewers.

The movie's wide success undoubtedly made the actor lots of money, but what is his actual net worth?

While Cohen is acclaimed as an actor, he is first and foremost a comedian with an innate ability for clowning. He once described himself as "this comedian who has dabbled in a bit of acting over the years."

However, Cohen got his launch to stardom after his role in the 2006 movie "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan."

Talking about the movie, Cohen shared that back in 2005, a character like Borat, who was misogynist, racist, and anti-Semitic, was needed to get people to reveal their inner discrimination. He continued that nowadays, the prejudices are apparent as racists are proud to be racists.

Moving on, Cohen duplicated his role in a sequel titled "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm in 2020." Unfortunately, the actor seems to be retiring from his infamous position.

As reported by "NPR," Cohen shared that he got scared for his life when he filmed a scene at a gun-rights rally. He admitted that the role was no longer worth the risk, and he is taking his leave before it gets too dangerous.

Although only a handful of actors were featured in "Borat," the movie was a smashing success thanks to Cohen's freshness.

According to "Parade," the original 2006 movie grossed over $263 million with a budget of $18 million. Reportedly, Cohen made a profit of $4.25 million off the original film.

For the movie's sequel, it would seem Cohen made more money as Amazon allegedly paid him $80 million. Other streaming services were also interested in the "Borat" sequel. 

A report by "Slashfilm," mentioned that Cohen wanted to premiere the movie's sequel in theatres before the elections, but it's impossible to do so because of the pandemic.

The outlet reported that other primary streaming services, including Netflix and Apple, also bidded on the movie, but Amazon won. The film was a win-win for all parties involved as they got "10s of millions of viewers" in the opening weekend.

Thanks to the Borat films' success, Sacha Cohen's net worth skyrocketed over the years. As reported by "Celebrity Net Worth," his current net worth stands at $160 million.

Aside from his wealth, he also won two BAFTA awards for the British satirical television show, "Da Ali G Show."
