Eddie Murphy's relationship dynamic with his wife, Paige Butcher, has been put on the spot as she's rumored to be "calling the shots."
Despite the actor's larger-than-life persona, it appears that behind closed doors, Butcher is the one running things, as a source shared that she doesn't let him get away with anything.
The system seems to be working well for Eddie Murphy and Paige Butcher, as their home is understood to be peaceful, especially because the iconic comedian doesn't complain about it.
Paige Butcher Allegedly Calls The Shots In Her Marriage To Eddie Murphy
According to Closer Magazine, a source disclosed that Butcher has managed to subjugate Murphy in a way that no other woman has done before and even has him doing house chores.
Despite what critics may say, their relationship hierarchy has seemingly yielded huge gains for them as they're said to be enjoying a happier home because of it.
"Paige is calling the shots, and Eddie doesn't seem to mind at all," the source said about the couple's marriage. "He lets her rule."
"Paige insists he does his fair share of household chores and doesn't slink off to hide behind a computer when they want family time," the insider continued. "He just pays for everything and he's happy too."
"A happy wife is a happy life is the right slogan for Eddie these days," added the source.
Eddie Murphy's Friends Tease Him About His Marriage
Even though the "Kindergarten Cop" actor's marriage to his Australian-born wife is in a good place, his friends have allegedly taunted him about the power dynamics in his home.
The insider told Closer that Murphy's friends "tease" that he's become a "yes man," which is a contrast to what fans see him as.
"Nobody ever thought they'd see him be a 'yes' man, but it's happened. It's a head-scratcher for his pals, but as long as Eddie's happy, they are happy," the source shared.
They continued, "The kids may run amok, but Eddie's been trained well. Eddie's settled into domestic life quite pleasantly and wouldn't dream of changing a thing."
Eddie Murphy And Paige Butcher Recently Got Married
The Grammy-winning actor recently tied the knot with the 44-year-old actress and model in a private Caribbean wedding ceremony attended by their family and close friends.
Butcher made sure to turn up in style for her marriage, wearing a corseted gown adorned with lace designed by Mira Zwillinger.
The "Saturday Night Live" alum, for his part, looked dashing in a white Brioni suit, per People Magazine.
This is Murphy's second marriage, as he previously walked down the aisle with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell in 1993 before divorcing in 2006.
The Couple Has Two Kids Together
Murphy and Butcher first met in 2012 and got engaged in September 2018. They welcomed their first child together, Izzy, on May 3, 2016, and their second child, Max, on Nov. 30, 2018.
The "Daddy Day Care" actor is also the father of eight other children: Eric, his son with Paulette McNeely; Christian, his son with Tamara Hood; Bria, Myles, Shayne, Zola, and Bella, his children with ex-wife Nicole; and Angel, his daughter with former Spice Girl Mel B.
Not much is known about Butcher as she rarely grants interviews, but she previously talked about her relationship with her then-fiance on the red carpet at the 2020 Golden Globes.
Murphy had whispered something to her at the time, and when asked what he told her, he said, "I told her how wonderful she looks," per ExtraTV.
Butcher then chimed in, saying, "He actually says that kind of stuff all the time. He's very, very sweet and romantic."
Eddie Murphy Says A Fifth 'Beverly Hills Cop' Film Is In The Works
The Oscar nominee is set to get back to working on his "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise.
After waiting 30 years before making the fourth installment, "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F," Murphy told USA Today that a fifth installment is already in the works.
"They're developing 'Beverly Hills Cop 5' as we speak," he shared. "And if the script is right, I'd do it tomorrow."
The actor disclosed that work on it could only kick off when an essential part of the script was resolved: the unresolved relationship between his character, Axel Foley, and his estranged daughter, Jane (Taylour Paige).
"That (storyline) was, truth be told, the only reason the movie got made and why this script is different from the eight others I read over the years," he said.
