Now that Joe Biden has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, Donald Trump is gearing up to face his new opponent, Kamala Harris.
According to sources close to the former president, Donald Trump and his advisors are not happy with Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.
Donald Trump Is Allegedly Upset That Joe Biden Dropped Out Of The Presidential Race
On Sunday, Biden shared an official letter on his official X account, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, informing the nation that he “believes it is in the interest of my party and the country to step aside and concentrate solely on fulfilling my duties as president.”
“I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work,” the President of the United States continued. “Let me express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed in me.”
Following the news, Trump called Biden "crooked" and said “he should never have been there in the first place." Now, it seems Trump has been exposed, as a source close to the former president says he knows how to "fake confidence."
Trump Knows How To 'Fake Confidence'
According to a source based in Florida, Trump says, "he can topple Kamala Harris as easily as he could topple Biden, but down deep, he is scared of her youth."
“This will suck tons of oxygen out of the room,” the source told People Magazine. "[Trump's] touchdown spotlight will dim for a while.”
The current Vice President is set to take over Biden's Democratic position in the 2024 Presidential run as reports have said she's currently looking for a running mate. “Of course [Harris] may not be the candidate, but if she is, he is also aware of her political and legal brilliance and deep understanding of the issues facing the American people," the source later added.
Trump Campaign 'Clearly Thought' They Could Beat Biden
Dave Aronberg, the state attorney for Palm Beach County and a former member of the Florida state Senate, told People Magazine that the Trump campaign "clearly thought they could beat President Biden" — but they are less sure about their odds facing Harris.
“This is why they have been attacking the Democratic Party for looking at alternatives and even threatening litigation to prevent a change," he added. "That says it all.”
Trump previously said that Harris would be "easier to beat" than Biden, but it seems this was all just for show and to put on the facade that he's more confident than he is.
“Trump is worried and has been worried, and his allies have been worried, but Trump knows how to fake confidence,” a fourth political source told the magazine. "The former president felt more confident with a disorganized Democratic Party. He was banking on this."
Donald Trump Calls Kamala Harris A 'Clone' Of Joe Biden
The source also suggested that Trump's criticism of Harris will probably follow a pattern similar to his previous attacks on Biden. "He can call Harris a clone of Biden," they said. "And is already armed with bashing sound bites about Harris."
If Harris ultimately secures the Democratic Party's nomination, as she currently seems likely to do, sources say she will continue to pose a challenge to Trump. “He really wanted to run against Biden as he saw it an easy glide to win in November. He will continue with that same attitude, but knows things are different now," another national political source told the magazine.
According to the source, it’s not just Harris' age and energy that might concern Team Trump. “He has trouble knowing how to act or deal with a smart woman opposing him," they claimed.
Donald Trump Previously Donated To Kamala Harris’ Campaign
This comes hours after The Blast reported that the former president donated thousands of dollars to Harris's campaign over the last few years.
Reports indicate that Trump made donations to Harris' campaign for California Attorney General. He contributed $5,000 in 2011, $1,000 in 2013, and $2,000 in 2014.
The database also records Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump's daughter, as having donated $2,000 to Harris' re-election committee in June 2014.
