It's never easy saying goodbye to a pet you call family. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and his family recently said goodbye to their beloved pup, Teddy Hilton. Perez is sharing his story and memories on social media.
Teddy, who was about to turn 17 years old later this month, was well-known by many of Perez's longtime followers. The pup, who Perez got in 2007, was recently put down due to cancer and his advanced age.
RIP, Teddy Hilton!
Perez shared a few videos on TikTok detailing the sad turn of events and sharing memories of his sweet pup with his followers.
"He was such a good boy. He is such a good boy, and he's never been sick before. The worst thing is I feel so bad for my mom," Perez shared, fighting through tears. "My mom keeps talking to the dog, which is a good thing, you know, he's like a human to her. And I feel bad for my kids cause they're at such a weird age to have to process this."
Perez, dad to three children, ages 11, 9, and almost 7, continued to share how this is also affecting him.
"Teddy's literally all around me in my office and in my whole house," he continued. "And this is where he lays down. And there's this little box that I just had there as decoration but I'll keep here in the spot next to my dad."
Perez Hilton Shared His 'Final Goodbye' To His Furry Bestie
Perez filmed his video shortly before taking Teddy to the veterinarian and explained how he "didn't want to go," which any pet parent can fully understand.
"He still looks great. He still looks great for his age," Perez shared. "The only health-related issues were he's almost 17 and he's lost control for the most part, his going to the bathroom, so he's been doing that a lot in the house for the last many months."
Perez then went over to Teddy to give him some cuddles, love, and compliments. He then showed some more spots that Teddy is in around the house, in the form of artwork, on a skateboard, and even on the cover of a magazine.
Perez Hilton Shared Follow-Up Videos About Teddy
Monday morning, Perez shared another video talking about his beloved pup captioned, "The days are slow - but the years are fast! And just like that, my firstborn is now only in my heart and the many many videos and photos that I will forever cherish."
The video was filmed shortly after returning from the vet's office after saying goodbye to Teddy. He first thanked the veterinarian who he said was "amazing with Teddy" as the family said their goodbyes.
He shared that it was very quick and that his mom had to leave the room.
"It was just me and Teddy," he shared through tears.
Perez also thanked everyone who left heartfelt and kind comments for him and his family during this tough time. He also revealed that Teddy is his "last dog."
Life is 'Beautifully Complex'
In another recently shared video, Perez explained how life is "beautifully complex" with ups and downs.
The video shows a clip from the soap opera, "General Hospital" where Perez is mentioned. His caption explained his excitement over this moment.
"Life is such a blessing and BEAUTIFULLY COMPLEX! One day you could be dealt a crushing blow and the very next you are handed a huge gift - like appearing on #GeneralHospital. Coming soon!! I am immensely grateful for this opportunity!" he wrote, and his fans understood how important this moment was for him.
"'General Hospital'? That's the big-time Perez! Can't wait to see your episode!" one fan shared in the comments. Another said, "Love this for you!"
Perez Hilton Has Been In The Business Of Celebrity News For 20 Years!
During an exclusive interview with The Blast earlier this year, Perez shared how he got started in the industry, crediting his timing and "curiosity" for how things got going.
"I started 20 years ago now, which is crazy; that’s a child that wasn’t even born that’s now in college. I started really as a hobby because, in 2004, it was the year that social media was birthed really. It was only MySpace at the time. Facebook launched in 2004 and I never could imagine everything that’s happened because none of it existed," he told The Blast exclusively.
"It was just curiosity that led me to blogging, and timing, because had it been five years later, I might have been a YouTuber in 2009. If I started five years after that, I might have been an Instagram influencer. Had I started five years after that, I might have been a TikTok creator."
When Perez got his start, he said it was a "less crowded field," but despite not having a lot of competition, it was not an easy road to travel.
"I began and was successful for over a year before TMZ even launched and I was told that it was the success of my website that inspired the birth of TMZ and others like that in the wake of me," he shared.
