Television presenter, Lisa Snowdon, is opening up about past hurts and being in a physically and mentally abusive relationship.

She disclosed that she saw her job as a model as a form of escapism from her stark reality back then.  She also talked about how been bullied in high school affected her self-worth and shared that the photoshoots helped her create a version of herself away from the abuse she was experiencing.

She spoke about how her abusive relationship was draining her on the "She Loves Herself" podcast.

Escaping Reality Through Work

Snowdon explained that the relationship chipped away at her mental and physical health before pleading with a mutual friend to help her out of the relationship.

Detailing the traumatic experience that happened at the beginning of her career, Snowdon explained that the relationship went from being mentally to physically abusive. And for her, modelling was a form of escape from the reality she was faced with. 

The model shared that they would do dramatic and creative make up with her eyebrows drawn high during the photoshoots.

Attention Turned To Pain

She continued to feel and look like an actress and create a different persona for the day to escape her abuse.

She also added that not getting a job when she needed one, always harmed her on top of her abusive relationship.

The 49-year-old revealed that her partner initially showered her with attention which gradually escalated to physical and mental abuses. At the start of the relationship, Snowdon shared that she reveled in the attention as a child who had craved it for so long.

Snowdon's Brave Escape

Snowdon also explained that "the affection from that person you love becomes a black eye along the line, but because you're so damaged, you go on believing it's still a sign of affection, and so you stay on with the abuse."

Snowdon disclosed that she tried to leave the relationship with the unnamed boyfriend many times, but he would always find her and physically drag her back.

In the end, she shared that she went to a mutual friend for help who was at first wary because he was also friends with the unnamed boyfriend.

Run! And Don’t Look Back

Recalling the conversation, Snowdon said she desperately asked her friend for help when she had a broken arm and a black eye.

After careful planning, she called the friend on a day her partner stepped out and asked him to come "now."

After getting ready to escape, Snowdon began packing her things that she admitted she should have left but didn't. As she and the friend left the house with the last set of bags, they ran into another friend who asked questions, but they just ran.
