Joe Biden succeeded Donald Trump in office on January 20, 2021. During his presidency, he concentrated on key issues like healthcare, climate change, racial justice, and infrastructure. He also signed the American Rescue Plan Act, which provided stimulus payments, expanded child tax credits, and funded vaccination distribution.

On Sunday, Joe Biden announced he would be withdrawing from the 2024 Presidential race, just days after testing positive for COVID-19.

Approximately one hour after Joe Biden announced he would be stepping out of the 2024 presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris broke her silence.

While Biden said it has been "the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President," he feels it is in the best interest "of my party and the country to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president."

“I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work," he added before endorsing her.

“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” he wrote in a follow-up post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made.”

"I first came to know President Biden through his son Beau. We were friends from our days working together as Attorneys General of our home states," the Vice President continued.

"As we worked together, Beau would tell me stories about his Dad. The kind of father—and the kind of man—he was. And the qualities Beau revered in his father are the same qualities, the same values, I have seen every single day in Joe’s leadership as President: His honesty and integrity. His big heart and commitment to his faith and his family. And his love of our country and the American people."

Harris added, "With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above everything else."

Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election."

"And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda," she continued. "We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win."

Kamala Harris's statement comes just moments after Donald Trump, who is also running for the 2024 Presidency, called Joe Biden "crooked."

“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve - And never was! All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t,” he said. "We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

"But RIGHT NOW, he just quit the race in COMPLETE DISGRACE!" he added.

Trump also spoke to NBC News, stating, “He should never have been there in the first place,” he said. “He should have stayed in his basement.”
