The TV personality disclosed that Stutz changed the chaotic course of his life, noting that he would probably not be here without the therapist.

Stamos looked dapper at the Season 2 premiere of Hulu's "Unprisoned" on Tuesday. He confessed that he has been seeing Stutz for about 20 years, and their interaction has seemingly yielded positive results.

The actor shared his struggles with alcohol and how it led to his DUI arrest in 2015 in his memoir "If You Would Have Told Me." His experience during the arrest led him to sign up for a substance abuse program for necessary help and that was when Stutz entered his life.

"When I went to Stutz one of the first times, he said, 'You know if you weren't so f—king stupid you'd realize how good you have it,' and I was like, 'You're right,'" he said, laughing.

The award-winning actor soon became a fan of therapy and even introduced his friend and fellow "Full House" cast member Bob Saget to Stutz after he included it on the list of things the late actor must do to become his friend.

Stamos's therapy session came in handy during filming sessions for his role in the Hulu series as he often tapped inspirations from his conversations with Stutz and replicated them per Page Six.

"I know who I am certainly by 57 now. It's been close to six years in June that I sobered up. I never could have been a father during some of the more—some of it was really fun, and some of it got to be very unhealthy," shared the actor back in 2021 on his mindset after sobering up.

Despite being the best uncle to three girls growing up and playing dad to twin boys on "Full House," The Blast gathered that the actor did not give becoming a parent a second thought during his years of addiction.

However, three years after he checked himself into rehab for therapy, the actor welcomed his first child with his wife, Caitlin McHugh. He named his son William Christopher Stamos, with the nickname Billy, a tribute to his father.

Stamos showed that he was indeed a doting dad back in 2021 when he disclosed his son's interesting jokes and fatherhood in general.

The actor gushed that Billy loved to hide things in his guitar. Sometimes, he finds a pair of glasses in his guitar, which his son finds very funny, and by extension, he does, too.

Billy also hides behind things and enjoys scaring his dad. However, his son's antics opened Stamos's eyes to the hidden fact that he is a jumpy guy.

Although the actor thought Billy was a handful and found himself waking up at 5 a.m. with him every day, he declared that he would not trade it for anything.

"Being a parent is about sacrifice. You don't get rewarded for it. You don't get a trophy or a ring, but what you do get is, you get a child who is more loving, more kind, and a smarter version of you, and I think that's really special," shared Stamos.

If Stamos could take back anything in his life, The Blast noted that it would definitely be his run-in with the cops, which made headlines in 2015

"I had that DUI and I was like, 'I can't do this. I've got to straighten up. That's when I was confusing the universe because I'm not a bad person, but I was doing crappy things," he shared.

Regret and remorse set in one year after the episode as the actor finally agreed he could have hurt somebody, describing it as "really stupid and ignorant" of me. He added:

"And i hated myself for that. It was bad, a bad thing. So I said to myself, I have to stop this up and down, up and down, I have to."

The actor continued that his time at the rehab was blurry for a while, but things started to get clear and he made a lot of good connections that helped him stay clean. Stamos' sisters and "Fuller House" solidified his peace and recovery.

His wife and Billy also got accolades for keeping him on the path of becoming sober. The actor noted:

"...Because going down the road of being sober and taking care of yourself, everybody tries. Everybody does it. You could get going for a little while. Then, it's like, 'I can drink again, So it's staying on the path is what they mostly do for me."

Although it gets hard to not cave in at times, Stamos revealed that thinking about drinking again now makes him throw up, which is a good sign for his sobriety journey.

More strength to John Stamos' elbows as he continues on this positive path!
