Over the weekend, a 20-year-old, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by the Secret Service after he opened fire at a Donald Trump rally, hitting the former President's right ear with a bullet. One rallygoer was killed, while two others are in critical condition.
One day after the incident, at a concert on Sunday, Kyle Gass of Jack Black's band Tenacious D, came under fire for making a dark joke about the attempted assassination.
Kyle Gass Under Fire For Trump Rally Shooting Joke
Comedian Jack Black's bandmate has been criticized for making a "bad joke" on stage in Sydney on Sunday night, shortly after the attempted assassination of former US president Donald Trump.
During their performance at the ICC Sydney Theatre, Black presented his Tenacious D band member Kyle Gass with a birthday cake. “Make a wish,” he encouraged, and Gass, after blowing out the candles, remarked quietly, “Don’t miss Trump next time,” prompting a mixed reaction from the audience.
While some laughed and clapped, others were less pleased.
“You could hear a couple of ‘oohhs’ — like too soon sort of vibes — but the vast majority was laughter,” one audience member told Yahoo News.

After the video made its rounds on social media, Gass has been under fire for his remark about the attempted assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump.
After seeing the clip, one social media user said, "Any career he had left is out the window." Another said, "Wow, pure evil."
"Disgusting and so vile," a third said in an X post.
"This crap is horrible," a fourth expressed. "To actually cheer for this?"

Conservative influencer Chris Loesch broke his silence in an X post. “I used to love Tenacious D and thought Jack Black was funny," he wrote. "None of them or their music/movies will ever be played in our home again. Ever. Sickening. Not funny and done in a foreign country is even worse.”
“Maybe, just maybe, these people are actually the evil ones,” Collin Rugg of Trending Politics chimed in.
Jack Black, Kyle Gass, and Tenacious D have yet to comment on the backlash.

Later in his speech, the actor, who was wearing a pair of American flag overalls and a President Biden t-shirt, added "My President needs me."
Donald Trump 'Shot' In The Ear At Pennsylvania Rally
Authorities found an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle at the site of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
The gun is linked to Thomas Matthew Crooks' father and was purchased legally. Crooks also purchased 50 rounds of ammo on the morning of the attempted assassination.
"What I would say is, is a tragic incident that occurred. We're not in a position to start second-guessing how or why or anything else at this point. Just know that it will be thoroughly investigated. If there is anyone to prosecute, that will be done and we'll move forward," Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police said, per WTAE.
