Dorinda Medley opened up about her relationships with the remaining members of “The Real Housewives of New York City” during an interview with Us Weekly magazine last week.
Months after confirming she was not asked to return to the Bravo reality series for its upcoming 13th season, Dorinda said that when it comes to production, she tries to keep her distance from her former cast mates.
“I try to be very respectful when the girls are filming because, you know, it’s very hard when you’re in that world,” Medley explained on February 26.
Dorinda Medley Didn’t Want To Intrude On ‘RHONY’ Season 13
“It is, like, going off and doing your thing and you always know you’re going to see them again. I’ll touch base with [Luann de Lesseps] and touch base with [Sonja Morgan], but at the end of the day, you don’t want to be intrusive to the process,” Medley explained of keeping her distance from her former cast members.
That said, when Medley recently heard from Leah McSweeney, who joined the “Real Housewives of New York City” cast for its 12th season, she decided to meet with her in the Big Apple.

“I know myself, when you’re in it, it’s sometimes hard to jump. But [Leah] called the other day and said, ‘I’m going to be on the Upper East Side. Would you love to meet for lunch?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to.’ And we met. We went to one of my favorite places,” Medley recalled.
In addition to keeping up with most of her former cast mates, Medley said she is also in touch with Bethenny Frankel, who left the show one year before she did after appearing on eight of its past seasons.

“I love Bethenny. Bethenny is a powerhouse,” Medley gushed. “She’s an endless learning curve that girl, and you could just listen to her forever. She’s a unique character, strong. What a businesswoman. I admire her.”
“You kinda have to peel an onion to become close to someone. It’s a process and we’ve gone through the process. We just really liked each other. I really admire her. We’re very dear friends. We’re very close. I love Bethenny. She is a character — I love a good character. [A] bada**, that girl,” she continued.

According to Medley, she and Frankel could “talk about dirty laundry for hours.”
Looking back at her time on “The Real Housewives of New York City” while appearing on Frankel’s podcast, “Just B,” in October, Medley admitted that she was hoping to be back for the new season.
“I was ready to go back. I was excited about going back. I was planning on going back, and I thought I would have a great year,” she said. “I wasn’t given that option.”
The upcoming 13th season of “The Real Housewives of New York City” is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime later this year.
