Patrick Mahomes’ Father Bags Another Run-In With The Law After DWI Arrest

Three things that never go together are Patrick Mahomes Sr., drinking, and driving.

The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is no stranger to mug shots, repeatedly getting in trouble for his driving and drinking. Now, new reports reveal he got busted in June for a similar offense.

Patrick Mahomes Sr.'s latest run-in with the law comes four months after he was arrested and slammed with driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge for the third time.

According to court documents, Mahomes Sr. was caught driving with an invalid license on June 29 around 8:30 pm. The incident coincidentally happened in Tyler, Texas, the same city he was arrested in for the DWI charge.

Mahomes Sr. was ticketed for the offense and given a citation and a warning for disregarding traffic signs. This indicated that officers initially stopped him for a routine violation before discovering the invalid license.

The documents obtained by TMZ noted that the former MLB pitcher would appear before a judge on or before July 31 for a hearing on his case. However, given his frequent run-ins with the law, it remains unclear if Mahomes Sr.'s license has been suspended or revoked.

Four months before his June citation, The Blast reported that Mahomes Sr. got busted for his third DWI charge. In February, the 53-year-old was arrested, with the total charge being a third-degree DWI or more.

"After two DWI convictions, a third DWI offense (habitual DWI) is a Third-Degree Felony. The maximum fine is $10,000.00, and the maximum prison sentence is 10 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) penitentiary," the charge stated.

"A conviction for a third DWI will result in a minimum prison sentence of two years and a maximum of ten years in prison (not a county jail). Even if you are granted probation, you will have to serve at least ten days in jail as part of a plea agreement. This usually cannot be waived," it continued.

According to police reports, Mahomes Sr. was traveling slower than other vehicles in the vicinity and was stopped for a routine check. Officers allegedly found an open 16-ounce Coors beer with him, pushing them to run Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

Mahomes Sr. reportedly showed four signs of intoxication during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus eye test, two symptoms during the One Leg Stand, and five signs during the Walk and Turn test. 

"Based on the totality of the circumstances. I believed Patrick was impaired to a perceptible degree while operating a motor vehicle in a public place," the arresting officer explained, citing probable cause.

As stated, Mahomes Sr. had a history of police run-ins and was arrested in 2018 for a second DWI charge, according to jail records. He served a 40-day sentence on weekends from February 2019 to February 2020.

While Mahomes Sr. faced drinking and driving problems, his second son, Jackson Mahomes, made waves for sexual assault allegations. The Blast reported that the latter scored a massive milestone in the abuse case a month before his father's third DWI arrest.

Jackson was facing three counts of aggravated sexual battery and one misdemeanor battery charge. However, a judge dismissed the three felony counts against him in January, leaving him to battle the misdemeanor charge.

These charges were initially filed against him in 2023 by the Johnson County District Attorney's Office after a woman, Aspen Vaughn, accused him of non-consensual misconduct.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback's younger brother visited Vaughn's Aspens Restaurant and Lounge business in Overland Park on February 25, 2023. He was allegedly in a room alone with the woman and pushed a waiter who attempted to access the area.

After allegedly chasing the waiter away, Jackson grabbed Vaughn and kissed her three times without consent. In her conversation with authorities, the restaurant owner described him as her step-daughter's friend and noted he had once been asked to leave her establishment.

Despite her abuse claims, Vaughn refused to testify in the case, and the three counts of aggravated sexual battery against Jackson were dropped. The misdemeanor charge left was linked to Jackson's alleged attack on the waiter.

Despite his family's legal troubles, Patrick Mahomes continues to thrive as a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
