Mel B's Ex Releases Damning Phone Recording Amid Defamation Lawsuit

Stephen Belafonte is doubling down on his desire to bring Mel B to justice with alleged proof of her wrongdoings.

The drama between the Spice Girls alum and her ex-husband thickened on Thursday, July 11, when the latter dropped a phone recording on X. The audio clip seemingly captured the singer addressing a child abuse case her ex claims never existed.

This is the latest update in Stephen Belafonte's battle against Mel B, two months after he filed a $5 million defamation lawsuit against her.

In his X post, Belafonte shared an alleged phone recording of Mel B from 2018, a year after their divorce. It is unclear if this audio featured the real person, but the voice resembled the Scary Spice singer.

"She falsely accuses someone of raping a child because she's upset with them. This is just one example of so many how far #Melb is willing to go and lie about someone," Belafonte claimed in the caption, adding:

"Her accusation is 100% false. I have confirmed this with the Los Angeles police department; no reports were ever made. To get a better understanding, read my lawsuit filed against her for defamation."

The audio captured Mel B's alleged conversation with another female, who she warned to avoid an unidentified man's calls, saying:

"You have nothing to do with it, but I will keep your name out of everything because it's me and my kids. So, do not answer any of his calls. Let it ring, don't block, and that's that."

As Belafonte pointed out in his tweet, the alleged audio captured a moment where Mel B claimed there was an ongoing investigation into the child abuse case.

However, she reassured the other party that they would not be questioned, but they should never pick up the man's calls.

The alleged proof of Mel B's false allegations comes two months after The Blast reported Belafonte had filed a $5 million defamation lawsuit against her. His filing came as a mean birthday present coinciding with his ex's 49th birthday.

In his suit, Belafonte accused Mel B of a "long-brewing harassment" campaign, noting it started in 2017. She allegedly slammed him with false domestic violence claims but "dismissed" them before he could take her to court.

Belafonte stressed that she also attacked him with "a deliberate and wide-ranging campaign to cause him severe emotional distress and destroy his reputation." Consequently, her actions ended up damaging his reputation and ruining his life.

Mel B's ex-husband stressed that her smear campaign has negatively impacted him. He listed her false allegations as "rape, illegal gun possession, sex trafficking, production of illegal pornography, domestic battery, and child endangerment."

As a result of these claims, "Mr. Belafonte lost access to his home and children." Given his alleged suffering, the media personality's ex noted he was unwilling to settle and demanded $5 million in damages.

Belafonte also asked to prove his innocence at a jury trial, compensatory punitive damages, and a gag order against Mel B. He claimed the money wasn't for personal gain and vowed to donate it to an abuse program for women.

Last October, The Blast shared that Mel B had opened up about surviving her alleged abusive marriage in a candid interview. She recalled being body shamed by Belafonte, noting the criticisms hurt more from her then-husband.

"When someone you are married to, someone who is meant to love and respect and treasure you, someone you share a home and a life with, starts ripping you apart, then it is very, very different," she explained.

Mel B claimed Belafonte would call her derogatory names, including statements like "'You look old,' 'you look fat,' 'God, you are ugly,' [and] 'your arms are flabby.'" Describing the words "like rain," she stressed that they washed away her self-confidence and self-worth.

It remains to be seen how or if Stephen Belafonte's alleged audio recording will play a part in his defamation lawsuit. However, Mel B's reaction is sure to get things heated.
