Gypsy Rose Blanchard Says Her Parole Officer Knew About The Pregnancy Before Going Public

Gypsy Rose Blanchard announced earlier this week that she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Ken Urker in January 2025.

The baby bombshell news was revealed in a YouTube video shared on Tuesday. While the pregnancy wasn't planned, the couple is looking forward to becoming parents.

Though Gypsy Rose Blanchard didn't announce her pregnancy to the public until July 8, she says she informed her parole officer of the news "immediately."

The ex-convict shocked the world earlier this week, by opening up her YouTube video with, “I know the rumors have been flying around for quite some time now, and I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant. Ken and I are expecting our very first child come January 2025.”

"This was not planned at all; it was completely unexpected," Gypsy added. "But we're both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood."

Shortly after announcing the pregnancy, Gypsy spoke to People Magazine, giving a bit more insight into the weeks before going public, including who knew about the pregnancy right after the couple found out.

"I let my parole officer know that I was pregnant immediately when I found out, because I keep my parole officer in the loop about everything, even personal stuff," she told the outlet. "But it doesn't affect anything to do with my parole. I am still on parole for another 11 months."

It may, however, affect her divorce from Ryan Anderson. It is unclear exactly where Gypsy is living at this time, but if she is still in Louisiana, a judge might postpone finalizing the divorce as they may prefer to wait until after the child's birth to address parenting matters along with the pregnancy-related aspects of the divorce.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard filed for divorce from Ryan Anderson, whom she married while behind bars, in April in Louisiana's Lafourche Parish. “It’s heartbreaking because no one gets married to get a divorce. Processing those emotions has been hard," the ex-convict told People Magazine earlier this year.

"I think that there is a sense of freedom of following your heart, following what you feel like is right for you," she added. "In my marriage, I felt like a part of me was lost in it, and so I feel like I found that missing piece of myself that I always felt was lost and now reclaiming that back. I definitely feel a sense of belonging in that space."

As of early this month, no new updates have surfaced in the proceedings.

After the news broke, many wondered how Ryan would respond. While he hasn't publicly commented on his soon-to-be ex-wife having a child with her new boyfriend (and former ex-fiancé), sources close to the family have spoken on his behalf.

According to family insiders, Gypsy Rose disclosed her pregnancy to Ryan a couple of weeks ago. TMZ reported that the special education teacher "didn't take the news well," as he was still hopeful they could reconcile their marriage.

In her YouTube video, Gypsy Rose spoke out about her mother and her childhood experience, which she wants to consider when raising her baby.

"It's not about anything other than the tiny little life that's inside you," she told her fans in the video announcement. "That you are now in charge of protecting and that little tiny life is a baby, a little tiny human that's yours and that you have to make sure you protect, you love, you take care of, and all of the things that I wish I could have had when I was little."

"All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby," Gypsy said, holding back tears. "I am a mother now, I am happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn't."

She later spoke to Us Weekly, where she admitted, “I think that I’m going to be a good mother. I think Ken would be a wonderful father, and so we’ll see what the future holds for us.”
