The Princess Royal finally addressed the public via a statement, opening up about her feelings after suffering a concussion in a horse-related incident. She was recently discharged after spending five nights at the hospital.

Princess Anne is expected to miss all her royal duties while recovering, as the accident left her with temporary memory loss.

Before her accident, King Charles III's only sister was scheduled to visit Canada on July 1 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Newfoundland National War Memorial.

The service commemorates the bravery and lives of the Canadian troops who died during the tragic 1916 Somme Offensive in the First World War.

Since she could not attend the event, Princess Anne honored the troops through a statement shared by Canada's Governor General Mary Simon. The royal's message expressed her profound longing to be there, reading:

"It is with deep regret that I am unable to be with you today as you commemorate the brave efforts and sacrifices of the members of the Newfoundland Regiment who went into battle on the first day of the Somme."

"I have fond memories of joining you in 2016, on the 99th occasion that the people of this Island commemorated the Battle of Beaumont Hamel," the Princess Royal recalled, adding:

"I am deeply saddened that I'm unable to join you again, and I send you my warmest best wishes on this special day of commemoration."

In her message, Canada's Governor General stressed the importance of the Newfoundland National War Memorial while praising the late soldiers. The Newfoundland Regiment troops are honored for answering the call to fight and defend freedom during the First World War.

"They served with courage and distinction, and many made the ultimate sacrifice. To this day, we still find their final resting places scattered across battlefields in Europe," Simon claimed, noting that each generation must continue the tradition of honoring these soldiers.

"When we remember, we preserve an important lesson of history: the cost of war and conflict is too high. We honor every veteran when we work towards dialogue, understanding, and peace," she stressed, adding:

Over a week before Princess Anne broke her silence, The Blast reported that Buckingham Palace had announced her hospitalization in a statement.

They did not share what happened to the King's sister, only stating that she had "minor injuries and a concussion" after an unspecified accident.

The incident, per the statement, occurred on Anne's Gatcombe Park estate on June 23, leading to her admission at the Southmead Hospital, Bristol. The Palace stressed that she remained at the facility "as a precautionary measure for observation."

As for the Royal Family's reaction to her hospitalization, Buckingham Palace shared, "The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery."

Anne, per doctors' orders, was not allowed to resume her royal duties because she suffered temporary memory loss due to her concussion. She was expected to follow standard concussion protocols during her recovery, with rest being the top priority.
