As The Blast reported, the Kansas City Chiefs star shocked the crowd at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium with a surprise appearance during Taylor Swift's concert. June 23 is a day Swifties will never forget. The three-time Super Bowl champ proved he is more than just an NFL star when he walked out on stage as one of Taylor's backup dancers for the short transition into her newly added "The Tortured Poets Department" segment of the concert.
“It was an absolute blast," he shared on the latest episode of the "New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce" podcast. While many initially thought it was the pop icon's idea, or perhaps one of her reps, to bring out her boyfriend, Travis is spilling the truth.
Who Was The Mastermind Behind The Eras Tour Stunt?
The idea actually came as a hypothetical joke -- from Travis!
"I initially mentioned it to Tay," he told his brother and co-host. "I was like, ‘How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 era.' "
While Taylor initially laughed it off, Travis said, "Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?"
"I was just like, ‘What? I would love to do that, are you kidding me? I've seen the show enough — might as well put me to work here,'" he added. "And sure enough, she found the perfect part of the show for me to come in.”
There Were A Few Adjustments To The Segment
Travis later told his brother, “There was no bike in case I ran into somebody else or hit one of the dancers or anything. It was the safest option."
The NFL star added his own flare to the bit, breaking out some dance moves, which he says were inspired by Jim Carey’s tap dance in "Dumb and Dumber."
“I always wanted to pull out this move, but I never knew like when I should pull it out where it made sense," he said. "That’s one of my favorite moves of all time!”
"It was such a fun, playful part of the show and it was like … the perfect time for me to go up there, just be a ham and have some fun — not only with [Swift]… but the crowd and really try and get everybody excited for the rest of the show," he recalled. "It was awesome."
Swifties React To Travis Kelce's Cameo
While it took the crowd a minute to realize it was Travis on stage, he was then welcomed with an overwhelming round of applause.
“When everyone found out that it was me — because it took a second for everyone to figure it out — that moment was pretty jarring. I was just like, ‘Oh sh-t,’ ” he said on the podcast. “And you don’t realize how big that damn stage is. It is easily as big as a football stadium … it's way bigger than I could have ever imagined.”
Travis Kelce Says It Was An 'Honor'

When reflecting back on the big moment, the NFL star beamed as he said it was an “honor” to stand beside a “true showman” like Taylor.
After the London leg of The Eras Tour ended, the "Look What You Made Me Do" singer took to Instagram to acknowledge her boyfriend's surprise appearance. “I’m still cracking up/swooning over @killatrav’s Eras Tour debut," she wrote at the time.
“But no, it was awesome. And I didn’t disappoint Taylor, so that’s all that really matters,” Travis Kelce concluded.
