Billy Ray is "happy to be out" of his marriage to his estranged wife, Firerose. Despite finding the divorce process "annoying," he is determined to leave all the drama behind and move forward.

According to an insider who spoke to People magazine, the 62-year-old country music veteran  believes his marriage to Firerose, 36, "was all a scam," and he "feels lucky that he figured it all out."

The insider shared that Billy Ray is "happy" and supported by a strong network of "close friends" in Nashville. He also maintains close contact with his daughter, Noah, 24.

These developments follow Firerose's recent interview with Page Six, where the Australian singer accused the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer of trying to control her throughout their relationship.

She alleged that "Billy had very strict rules" during their marriage, which included barring her from having friends and family visit their home and monitoring her communications.

"If I had to send a text, I had to read it out to him for permission," Firerose claimed. "It was the same for email. I didn't have a car. I was only allowed to go to the local chiropractor and allowed once a month to get my nails done."

In the interview, Firerose described being married to Billy Ray as systematic isolation, admitting she lacked the courage to leave.

The "After the Storm" singer claimed she became withdrawn and fearful of speaking after enduring emotional abuse from Billy Ray, who often gave her the silent treatment for days.

She also said that Billy Ray was verbally abusive, recounting instances where he would rage and shout at her, calling her derogatory names.

"He would rage at me, shout at me at the top of his lungs. He would terrify me, yelling, 'You stupid dumb f-cking b-tch, crazy wh-re.'"

"It was illogical and insane and terrifying," Firerose noted. The "Time" singer described Billy Ray as having a Jekyll-and-Hyde-like personality: "He kept saying 'dumb f-cking b-tch,' then 'You're the love of my life, I can't wait to marry you.'"

She added that the stress from their relationship led to migraines, and two days before their October 2023 wedding, she fainted and was hospitalized. Even then, she claimed that Billy Ray had accused her of creating "a circus."

Billy Ray denied Firerose's abuse allegations, claiming that she had been "physically and emotionally" abusive towards him. His manager, Scott Adkins, supported these claims in an affidavit, which Firerose's representative told People magazine was "questionable" due to Adkins' employment by Billy Ray.

The "Old Town Road" hitmaker filed for divorce on May 23, citing "irreconcilable differences" and inappropriate marital conduct. He also requested the annulment of the marriage due to fraudulent circumstances. In response, Firerose asserted that Billy Ray's conduct made her feel unsafe living with him.

In legal documents, Firerose stated that Billy Ray filed for divorce with deliberate cruelty, as she was scheduled to have a preventative double mastectomy the following day.

She said she indefinitely postponed her surgery because she no longer had a permanent residence and was allegedly "relying on Cyrus' health insurance and previous promises to pay for her surgery.'"

On June 13, Billy Ray filed documents asking the court to prohibit Firerose from using his credit cards, alleging she had accumulated almost $100,000 in "unauthorized" charges after their separation.

In the court documents, Billy Ray noted that he and Firerose had not filed joint tax returns, reinforcing his position. He also requested a judge to grant an "emergency motion" to prevent Firerose from accessing his accounts and credit cards.

Conversely, Firerose denied her husband's accusations in a filing. She stated that she had always had access to Billy Ray's credit cards since moving in with him in 2022 and was never given a spending limit.
