Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 32, has a dream dinner date – but it isn’t someone fans would expect.

The Missouri native spent the last eight and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder for her involvement in her mother’s murder. She is believed to be a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder where a caregiver, usually a parent, fabricates or induces illness in another person, typically their child, to gain attention or sympathy.

After hearing her story, many rallied behind Gypsy to support her, propelling the ex-convict to become one of the biggest names in 2024. Not only did she gain millions of followers on Instagram and TikTok, but she has also created a YouTube channel where she answers questions from fans.

During a recent YouTube live session, Gypsy answered several questions from her fans, one of which was a very common “what if” icebreaker.

“If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would I choose?” Gypsy began. “Umm.. hmm.. is it wrong if I say Jesus? I mean, who wouldn't want to have dinner with Jesus, right?” While this may have seemed like a safe answer… many social media users attacked Gypsy, calling her response “delusional.”

“SHE IS NOT MEETING HIM AFTER THE DEE DEE SPECIAL,” one user commented, referring to her involvement in her mother's murder.

“wow… she is just completely clueless... Jesus... gonna flip that table over again,” another commented.

The irony that Gypsy chose Jesus for her dinner date comes years after she conspired to murder her mother, Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard. Dee Dee fabricated several health issues in Gypsy, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and developmental disorders, and claimed that Gypsy had the mental capacity of a seven-year-old.

According to the 2017 documentary, “Mommy, Dead, & Dearest,” Gypsy was subjected to unnecessary surgeries, medications, and treatments throughout her life, and Dee Dee used these fabricated illnesses to gain sympathy, financial donations, and support from various charities and organizations, including Disney and Make-A-Wish.

As Gypsy grew older, she began to realize that her mother’s control over her life and her health was abusive and based entirely on lies. After several attempts to escape, she felt her only way out was to get rid of her mom -- permanently.

So, in 2015, Gypsy, with the help of her online boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, conspired to murder Dee Dee, and they carried out the plan in June of that same year.

Gypsy admitted to her role in planning her mother’s murder but expressed that it was the only way she could escape the ongoing abuse. Because she is believed to be a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, she was eligible for parole, but Nicholas was not.

Reflecting On Her Childhood

While Gypsy spent years in the dark, she claims she knew “that I could walk and didn't need a feeding tube, but everything else was a really big confusion for me.”

“Whenever I'd question it my mother would say I'd had a seizure the night before and didn't remember,” she continued. “There was always an excuse. I would voice concerns, being like, 'I really don't feel like I need this,' and she would get really, really upset with me and start manipulating me."

"I was desperate to get out of that situation,” she told People Magazine of her decision to murder her mom. "If I had another chance to redo everything, I don't know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I'm not sick and mommy makes me sick or, if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, 'You know what, I'm going to go tell the police everything.' I kind of struggle with that."

"Nobody will ever hear me say I'm glad she's dead or I'm proud of what I did. I regret it every single day,” she added.
