Katy Perry In Fishnet Awards Dress Reminded It's 'Not A Pool Party'

Katy Perry turned heads as she rocked a sheer mesh dress to the 2024 iHeart Radio Music Awards. Rocking up to the April event in a see-through black dress and heels, the 39-year-old singer sizzled as she embraced the sheer trend, but reviews proved mixed as fans reacted to the photos. Katy has since made headlines for showcasing her weight loss at the Haute Couture Balenciaga Fashion Show in Paris, although she was already garnering remarks on her size in these snaps.

Going skintight in her head-to-toe black look, the "Dark Horse" singer highlighted her cleavage in her push-up bra, also adding girly touches as her barely-there dress was held together by red bows.

Flaunting her trim hips and slimmed-down legs, Katy wore knee-high black boots and statement shades, wearing her luscious dark locks down and keeping her jewelry to a ring-only look.

Removing her shades in some of the red carpet snaps, seen below, Katy kept her look fierce and edgy, however for some, the pop singer had made a fashion faux-pas.

When a user on The Daily Mail wrote: "Katy doesn’t seem to realize this is not a pool party," over 400 others upvoted the comment. "Right!! Exactly what I thought! That is NOT a dress! It’s a cheap-looking beach cover-up!" another responded. Also popular was a reply likening Katy to Transformers actress Megan Fox, known for her love of mesh dresses. "For a split second, I thought Katy was Megan Fox….," they wrote.

Also slamming Katy Perry's fashion choice was a user who exclaimed: "Katy Perry is a beautiful woman with horrible fashion sense. She can’t even pick a ‘controversial’ wardrobe without looking tacky and silly."

Perry might get the thumbs-down from the internet, but the high-end brands are welcoming her with open arms. Just over a week ago, the mom of one fronted media outlets for her shocking shirtless Balenciaga look as she wore only an open fur coat, ripped leggings, and high heels for the luxury designer.

Baring her cleavage and firm abs in her statement outfit, Katy very narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction as she walked the Vogue: World runway in a look that Balenciaga ambassador Kim Kardashian would likely approve of. The star did, however, face backlash from her Instagram fans when sharing photos of her outfit. Many slammed her for supporting Balenciaga on account of its 2022 scandal. Two years ago, a Balenciaga ad featuring children holding teddy bears in bondage clothing sparked outrage, with Balenciaga landing itself in hot water.
