'Modern Family' star Ariel Winter is going off on Tennesse lawmakers after a bill was introduced which would give rights to a man to petition the court to stop an abortion...without the pregnant mother's consent.
The 23-year-old actress took to Instagram to show explain her 'disgust' for any legislation which would allow for a man, who gets a woman pregnant, the veto power to stop an abortion.
According to reports, the bill sponsored by two Tennessee lawmakers makes no exception for rape or incest.

Tennessee lawmakers have already passed one of the nation's most restrictive abortion laws, but a sponsoring senator said this week that he introduced the bill after concerns that fathers do not have enough say over abortion.
"And if somebody is going to kill that child, he should be able to say, 'No, I don't want that child to be killed. I want to able to raise that child and love that child," Sen. Mark Pody said.
The 'Modern Family' star exploded on IG in response to the article, saying, "Are you f--king serious ?????? No exceptions????? Banning abortion is bad enough but now you're telling me that a rapist can decide whether or not their victim can get an abortion??????"

She continued, "What if an 11-year-old child is raped gets pregnant? We're going to allow this????? We're going to tell that child that she has to carry and raise a rapist's child? What's next? He's guaranteed visitation/custody rights too?"
"I'm beyond disgusted, beyond," the actress concluded.
As you can imagine, the new bill has drawn huge criticism from abortion rights groups and the ACLU of Tennessee.
"This unconstitutional legislation demonstrates the condescending mindset underlying this bill: that men should control women’s bodies," the director said.

As for how the law would work under the new bill -- a judge would have the power to grant a petition by a man as long as he proves he is the biological father of the unborn child and there is a "reasonable possibility" the woman would seek an abortion.
It would ultimately be up to a judge to decide if there's enough evidence to establish paternity.
As for unmarried couples, the father would have to voluntarily establish his paternity but can do it without the woman's consent. Again, there is no carve out in the bill for rape or situations of incest.
