Jill Biden Under Pressure To Influence President Biden To Step Down Amid Debate Backlash

The aftermath of the recently held presidential debate has sparked intense scrutiny of President Joe Biden, with many questioning the incumbent's viability as a candidate.
However, the situation has seemingly taken a new turn. People speculate that his wife, Jill Biden, is encouraging him to stay in the race and would be "resistant" to calls for him to step aside.
Flash poll results from the debates have shown viewers believe that Donald Trump outperformed Joe Biden after he appeared to lose his train of thought during the historic event.
Jill Biden Urged To Tell Joe Biden To Abort 2024 Presidential Mission
Political experts and commentators seem to think Jill has the final say on whether her husband runs and that she's not willing to give up the office of first lady without a fight.
Christopher Phelps, an expert on US politics at the University of Nottingham, told the Daily Mail that he expects Jill and the Biden family to be "resistant" to calls for the president to step aside following his lackluster debate with Donald Trump.
"She is a close counsel of Joe Biden and his ardent supporter, both personally and politically. She was reputedly crucial to Biden's decision to run again, and she will undoubtedly be crucial in the coming days as pressure mounts on Biden to withdraw," Phelps shared.
The eminent historian went on, "The fact that Joe Biden won the presidency in the first place, and now has clocked millions and millions of primary votes, means that there will be a natural resistance in the family to any idea that Biden should quit now, just because of one poor debate performance. But no one knows the conversations that are going on over the pillows in the White House."
Jill Biden Reportedly Enjoys Being The First Lady
Speculations are rife that the 73-year-old has enjoyed her time as first lady more than anyone else before her, including Michelle Obama and Melania Trump.
She's managed to maintain a career outside the White House as she lectures at the community college, with the expert suggesting she wouldn't want to drop it.
"Jill Biden is a devoted mother and wife but has also has made history as the first First Lady to continue a career working outside the White House - teaching community college, as she has for years," Professor Phelps said.
He continued, "The family has had the view that Biden polls best against Trump and has the best chance to defeat him. In the coming days, that could possibly shift. If leading Democratic politicians and donors, combined with polling data about the public response to the debate, indicate that Biden's performance was so bad that he will actually preside over an epic defeat, even the family wouldn't want that."
Phelps went further to add that the mother-of-one wants her husband to "succeed" and wouldn't be "so inflexible" as to "listen to reason," however, she's expected to side with him "remaining in the race and winning."
The First Lady Has Been Accused Of Treating Her Husband Like A Toddler
Following what many have termed a dismal performance on national TV at the recent CNN presidential debate, there have been widespread calls for the president to reconsider his bid for re-election. Many question his cognitive ability in regard to his completing a potential second term.
When they visited a Waffle House last night, Biden insisted that the debate "went well" and that he was going to remain in the race.
Unsurprisingly, Jill is the one taking all the heat because of her alleged influence over his decision to stay in the race and has been accused of treating him like a toddler when she praised him for answering "all the questions" at a "Let's Go Joe" event in Georgia.
"Joe, you did such a great job answering every question. You knew all the facts," she addressed him directly while holding the microphone.
Joe Biden's Debate Performance Labeled The 'Worst In History'
In contrasting views from that of the first lady, Democratic donors have described Biden's performance in his standoff with Trump as "the worst performance in history."
The president appeared to lose his train of thought for some seconds and mumbled words incoherently as he spoke.
His voice was notably shaky all through, and he was seen clasping his hands with Jill's as she slowly walked him off-stage when things wrapped up.
Calls For The President To 'Drop Out' Intensity
A senior Democratic strategist told the New York Times that "Biden is about to face a crescendo of calls to step aside. Parties exist to win—this man on the stage with Trump cannot win."
One donor told Politico that the president's effort was "so bad that no one will pay attention to Trump's lies" and that Biden "needs to drop out. No question about it."
Another adviser disclosed that they'd "taken no less than half a dozen key donors texting 'disaster' and [the] party needs to do something," but admitted that "not much is possible unless" Biden steps aside.
