Jennifer Lopez reportedly longs for a return to New York amid split rumors from her husband, Ben Affleck.
The singer was recently seen earlier in the month in a clip on her JLo Beauty Instagram account, sharing with fans that she was "traveling to New York."
While she did not clarify her purpose in the Big Apple, reports claim that she is "pushing for a full-time move to New York" and had wanted this even before her marital troubles with Affleck began.
Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Wanted To Move To New York Before Her Marital Troubles Began
After reports of Lopez and Affleck living apart amid speculations of an "imminent" divorce, new details hint that the "Let's Get Loud" singer is looking to put more distance between herself and the "Good Will Hunting" star.
An insider revealed to In Touch that Lopez is "pushing for a full-time move to New York," where she once lived with ex-husband Marc Anthony, with whom she shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme.
According to the source, Lopez has had this move on her mind "even before things went totally south" with Affleck. Now, "she's decided to go ahead" with the idea, given the current situation of her marriage.
Although it is unclear when the move to the Big Apple might happen, the source believes that Lopez will not completely cut ties with Los Angeles, where she currently resides.
The insider added, "She'll probably keep a place in L.A. but she needs to get away from all the noise and the scrutiny on the West Coast."
She Might Relocate With Her Kids For A 'Fresh Start'
Lopez seemingly hinted at the move when she took to her JLo Beauty Instagram account to inform fans that she was "traveling to New York."
While she didn't provide more information about her purpose there, she likely spent some time checking out potential places of residence.
Moving to New York City would most likely lead to Lopez's twins, Max and Emme, relocating with her as the actress wouldn't want to be far away from them.
According to the source, the relocation might be challenging at first, but they would all adjust since New York City offers the same things they enjoyed in L.A.
"There's nothing to stop her from taking the kids and making a fresh start back in New York," the insider added. "They've got plenty of schools back east, and she's got a great social circle there."
Jenifer Lopez Allegedly 'Misses What She Had' With Her Ex-Partner Alex Rodriguez
Moving to New York might also lead to a reunion between Lopez and her ex, Alex Rodriguez. The duo were in a relationship for five years before splitting in 2021, two years after Rodriguez had proposed to Lopez with a massive emerald-cut diamond ring worth more than $1 million.
According to the insider, Lopez is "starting to miss what she had with him," and despite the former professional baseball shortstop being linked to Canadian fitness instructor Jaclyn Cordeiro, she allegedly still plans to stay in the picture.
The source said about Rodriguez and Lopez, "He's got a girlfriend now, but J.Lo doesn't intend to stay single long, and she and A-Rod do have unfinished business."
They added about Rodriguez, "For all his faults they did have an intense connection, he was devastated when they split up. He insists he's happier now without her but they have a lot of mutual friends that aren't so convinced and he's not married or engaged, so at this point it's not beyond the realm that they could reconnect."
The Singer Took A Solo Trip To Reflect On Her Marriage
Lopez recently took a trip to Italy sans Affleck, spending time with her friends and basking in the sun on a yacht in Positano.
Experts have speculated that the trip was another sign that "things may not be going well in her marriage" with Affleck, per Mirror.
"They seem to have spent a lot more time apart recently, with Ben even moving out of their shared home and back into his own place," said Louella Alderson, a relationship expert.
Alderson also claimed that the trip allowed Lopez "some time and space to reflect on her marriage and what she wants for her future."
After returning from the trip, Lopez was spotted visiting Affleck's office. The pair have remained mum about their marriage woes despite mounting speculations.
Jennifer Lopez Set To Produce New Netflix Series
Lopez recently landed a new series with Netflix amid her marital troubles with Affleck.
The "Jenny from the Block" singer secured a new deal through her company, Nuyorican, to adapt Emily Henry's novel Happy Place.
According to Deadline, plans to adapt the novel "as a series are underway" as the producers and streaming executives meet with the writers.
The novel tells the story of college sweethearts Harriet and Wyn, who dated but broke up shortly after without telling their friends. Five months after breaking up, they're forced to share a bedroom at the Maine Cottage, where they'd usually gathered for an annual getaway with friends for the past ten years. Now, they must continue lying to their friends about their relationship status.
Series producers will be Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina.
