After months of mystery, Kourtney Kardashian has finally opened up about the reason she underwent an emergency fetal surgery.
In the latest episode of Hulu's "The Kardashians," the Poosh founder revealed her son Rocky needed the procedure because of fluid in his lungs.
Kourtney Kardashian and her husband, Travis Barker, first sparked concern about their son's well-being after the reality TV star was rushed to the hospital in September 2023.
Kourtney Kardashian Sheds Light On Her Son's Rare Lung Issue
In the June 20 episode, Kardashian got candid about how her son needed emergency fetal surgery during her pregnancy. She revealed he suffered from a rare medical condition, saying:
"It is super rare — the condition that he had — but it is also super rare and lucky that we caught it."
However, the surgery did not solve the problem; as Kardashian confessed, "the fluid in his lungs actually did start coming back" after the 2023 procedure. Instead of giving into despair, the mother of four found strength in God, as shared by Page Six.

According to Kardashian, there were stronger powers than just medicine, with her son's case improving with prayers and a positive mindset. Reflecting on the life-changing journey, she said:
"I watched this documentary called 'Heal' that was all about the power of positive thinking and how our thinking can really affect our health. I started talking to the baby every day, saying my prayers.
"After I had that mindset shift, the fluid was completely gone, and we had not one single problem after," Kardashian claimed. The episode, which was filmed before she welcomed her son, also captured her husband's worries.

Kardashian's labor was documented on the Hulu show, with Barker worried about their son's arrival amid his medical condition. "I don't want him to come out early," the Blink-182 drummer confessed.
"I want to make sure his lungs are perfect — everything's perfect," the doting father continued. Contrary to his worries, the couple's son arrived safely on November 1, reportedly missing a Halloween birthday by one minute.
At the time, Kardashian raved about his birth, saying: "It's everything I've ever dreamed of. Everything we've been through to get to this moment it just feels so surreal. I'm so happy in my blissful baby bubble and the love with Rocky."

In May, The Blast shared that Kardashian got vulnerable with fans about her IVF journey during an emotional Q&A session on her Instagram Story. It was no secret that she struggled to conceive her last child, a heartbreaking process that tested her faith.
The TV personality's struggles happily made her willing to help others in similar situations, giving powerful advice to a fan who asked: "Had 6 failed IVFs - how did you find the strength to keep going? It's debilitating."
Relating to their pain, Kardashian replied: "I stopped after a year of trying (5 failed IVF cycles, 3 retrievals). My body relaxed, and I believed in God's plan for my life. Lots of prayers for whatever was meant to be for us."
She doubled down on prioritizing one's health and faith, adding: "Also lots of optimizing my health. I know how hard it is to feel like you're not trying, but believing in God's plan and saying your prayers is so powerful. All the best!"

Days before Kardashian's fetal surgery confession, The Blast reported she addressed how her living situation with Barker changed amid her pregnancy.
The episode, shot months before Rocky's birth, captured the behind-the-scenes details about the couple's cohabitation process.
Kardashian and Barker each welcomed three children from previous relationships, creating a blended household of six kids between them and a seventh on the way. With that in mind, they had much to consider before moving in together.
"Travis and I have really been taking our time with figuring out where it makes sense for us to live together because the kids are all so comfortable in their spaces," the TV personality explained in the episode.
She continued saying, "It feels like we kind of figured out a plan for now. We're going to move into his house, which is a block away, and then redo my house at the same time so that we can all be together, living together under one roof with the baby."
