Women Are Throwing Themselves At Gerry Turner Post-Divorce From Theresa Nist

It seems the baggage Gerry Turner, 72, carries is not an issue for most women. Months after announcing his divorce from Theresa Nist, whom he met on the first season of "The Golden Bachelor," his DMs are overflowing with ladies making moves on the 72-year-old.

Despite having his pick from the fish in the sea, Gerry Turner mentioned he hasn't accepted any date offers from women who have approached him since his divorce.

Women are wasting no time trying to snag a date with Golden Gerry. He told TMZ his DMs are flooded with messages from fans asking him out. Some have even had the courage to approach the 72-year-old in public places—like wineries—and give him their numbers.

Gerry, being the polite man that he is, has accepted every digit given to him, though he has yet to follow up with anyone. He admits to being wary of those who reach out to him first.

He did say he is ready to re-enter the dating pool and is looking for “a good friend and someone who loves adventure, travel, and is able to be on the move.”

Another preference is that she would either already be living in Indiana or be willing to move to his home state. This is seemingly one of the reasons why he and his ex-wife didn't work out, as Theresa wanted to stay in New Jersey with her family and her job.

On April 12, 2024, three months after getting married in a televised wedding ceremony, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their divorce.

The couple appeared on "Good Morning America," where they dropped the bombshell, leaving Bachelor Nation shocked.

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and -- and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage," Gerry said when on the morning talk show.

“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope," Theresa added.

When it comes to why... Gerry explained, “The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations [has been] how dedicated both of us are to our families. So we look at these conversations, and we both think it's best for the happiness of each of us to live apart."

The two claimed that living arrangements and family were the main reasons they ended their marriage.

“We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision," Theresa explained.

Gerry added, “The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it's been how dedicated both of us are to our families. So we look at these conversation and we both think it's best for the happiness of each of us to live apart."

Days after announcing their divorce, the New Jersey native took to social media to release a statement.

"Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned, and that’s okay," she wrote at the time. "I take so many positives away from this experience, most importantly and above all, the incredible friends I now have in all of these amazing, wonderful women and in Angie and Jenny, Payton and Charlee, the producers, the production crew, and so many of you."

"To everyone who has expressed love, support, and kindness to me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart," she added. "You are all such wonderful human beings. It means the world to me that you took the time to reach out to me, whether in person, on the phone, by text, or by direct message. You are all so kind to do so."

"For everyone else who is confused and angry and who does not understand, please try to find it in your heart to understand and to try a little kindness," she added. "Not just for me, but for the world and for everyone you encounter."

The divorce came as a shock to many as earlier this year, the two wed in a televised ceremony, where they exchanged heartfelt vows, leaving Bachelor Nation in tears.

“I promise to choose you, every day, as the one I love, and never take your heart for granted," Gerry told Theresa in his vows. "I promise to shout the 'I love yous' by day, and whisper them softly at night. I promise to keep you safe. And I promise to make you feel comforted in difficult times and abundantly joyful in great times.”

"I love you," she then told Golden Gerry in her vows. "I love your heart and your soul. I love your smiles and your laughter. We have so much fun together, we laugh until we cry. ... I promise to be calm in the storm, to comfort you when you're sad, to laugh with you when you're happy, and to stick with you throughout it all, but most of all, to have fun. For the rest of the days that we have left on this earth, which could be another hour," she joked.
