How Did Deshaun Stamps Escape?

Social media users continued questioning what went wrong, bombarding news reports with comments. "How the hell did he escape and I was double doored at West Valley ( no door opened until one door was already closed) that's crazy," one user said.

"They should fire the deputy’s that are responsible for this guys escape!!!!!" one Instagram user expressed.

Another claimed, "For the people that don’t have knowledge on this ridiculous justice system. The prisons are so over populated. We have people in jails for many years for murder. If you’re not serving for being a sexual violent predator or serial killer you won’t serve life. If you served 15+ years for murder you will be released as long as you were in good behavior in prison/jail."

This news comes months after an Idaho inmate escaped custody, prompting a massive manhunt. As The Blast reported, Skylar Meade, 31, was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho for self-inflicted injuries in March.

He was set to be transported back to the corrections facility around 2:15 a.m. However, instead of going back to prison, he escaped custody with the help of another individual.

Meade had an accomplice, later identified as Nicholas Umphenour, who surprise attacked multiple corrections officers after he opened fire, according to police. Two officers were shot -- one with non-life-threatening injuries and the other who was stable in critical condition.

Was It A Coordinated Attack?

"Boise Police officers responded to the hospital to reports of an active shooter, with one officer firing his duty weapon at an armed individual near the entrance," the police department confirmed at the time. "That individual was later determined to be an IDOC employee. He was not seriously injured and is receiving treatment for his injuries."

Adding, "The hospital was locked down as officers searched the area for the suspect. A preliminary investigation indicates Meade and the shooting suspect got into a gray four-door sedan and fled the area just prior to Boise Police officers arriving."

Boise Police Chief Ron Winegar said in a press conference that they "believe that this was a coordinated attack, ambush on the department of corrections officers and certainly a planned endeavor to free him from custody."
