The actor further discussed the shock of seeing his relationship get dissected and criticized by people online after his breakup with the Grammy award-winning singer.

Reflecting on his breakup, Alwyn said, "What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it's suddenly in the public domain, and the outside world is able to weigh in."

He continued: "So you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated on, pulled out of shape beyond recognition, and the truth is, to that last point, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that."

Swift and Alwyn ended their six-year relationship in April 2023, coinciding with the launch of her ongoing Eras Tour.

At the time, a source told People magazine that their breakup was primarily due to "differences in their personalities" that had become increasingly difficult to overlook.

"They've had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together," the source said, adding that "ultimately" Swift and Alwyn "weren't the right fit for one another."

The former lovers have since moved on from each other. Swift is in a relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce, while Alwyn is reportedly "dating" and focusing on his acting career.
