Ben Potter, a famous YouTuber known for re-creating comic books with his audio drama, died at 40.

The late social media personality suddenly passed away over the weekend, leaving fans and stars devastated.

A cause of death for Ben Potter, also known as famous YouTuber Comicstorian, who had a following of three million, has been revealed.

On June 8, 2024, Ben Potter passed away "in an unfortunate accident," according to his wife, Nathalie Potter.

Potter, better known to his 3 million followers as Comicstorian, was part of the YouTube community for over a decade. For those unaware, he was popular amongst the comic-book world as he regularly discussed the Marvel and DC universes.

He has uploaded more than 4,000 videos.

Ben Potter's Cause Of Death Revealed

According to People Magazine, the Colorado State Patrol confirmed the cause of death to be a car accident.

“The Windsor resident was southbound on I-25 at milepost 267.5 when his silver Toyota 4Runner traveled off the right shoulder of the interstate. He continued to cross over the frontage road paralleling the interstate before rolling his vehicle multiple times,” the police said.

The incident happened at 9:19 a.m. local time on I-25 near Fort Collins. Potter was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. However, he “succumbed to injuries from the crash while at the scene.”

The cause of the crash remains ongoing, but police did note that there are “no indications that impairment or excessive speed was involved," per US Weekly.

Nathalie Potter Breaks Silence

On June 10, two days after her husband passed away, Nathalie Potter released a statement.

"Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband, Ben Potter, passed away in an unfortunate accident," she began. "To many of you, he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for."

"As a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, or even just a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who would listen and make time for his loved ones," she continued. "He would do his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were okay. He was our rock and he'd reassure his loved ones whenever they needed it."

Ben Potter Was Nathalie Potter's 'World'

Her lengthy statement continued: "He was my world, and I need time to be with friends and family. I have so many things I need to figure out but firstly, I need to grieve. I ask that you respect my privacy as well as everyone else's. Right now, my priority is preserving everything he's built, and I don't have any plans beyond that."

Nathalie expressed how his channel "was one of his greatest accomplishments" as he "spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies."

"While we all need our time to mourn him, I know he wouldn't want it to end like this," she said. "The team and I want to keep that going. To honor him by continuing to tell great stories by great people, as well as to keep the memory of our very own superhero alive."

"We supported each other on everything we wanted to do, and I'm not about to stop now," she concluded.

Tributes Pour In

Following the tragic news, many celebrities, including comic book author Scott Snyder, paid tribute to the late YouTuber.

“Completely Stunned and deeply saddened to hear this. Benny’s love for comics was infectious and amazing to be around," he said, per The Hollywood Reporter. "My sincere condolences to his family.”

Ice Cube’s son, actor O’Shea Jackson Jr., said, “I am still taking my break from Twitter for personal reasons. But with the news I just got I have to come back say something."

“Rest in Peace to Comicstorian. I’m heartbroken to hear this news," he added. "One of my favorite follows on YouTube, thank you so much for your work man I was a huge fan.”

Youtuber Heavy Spoliers took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to share, "Incredibly heart breaking, Comicstorian was an absolutely incredible YouTuber that pioneered so much and got so many people into reading comics. Devastating news. Rest in peace."

Potter's last YouTube video was published on Friday, June 7, just one day before his death.
