'Cringy' Docuseries Moments Addressed By Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Sister

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 32, was released from prison on parole after serving eight and a half years behind bars for her involvement in her mother's murder. Since then, her life has been a whirlwind, dealing with paparazzi and unexpected fame.

As The Blast previously reported, Gypsy is believed to be a victim of Munchausen by proxy, a mental health disorder and form of abuse where a caregiver intentionally causes or fakes an illness or injury in the person they are caring for.

After her prison release, Lifetime followed the ex-convict to document the ups and downs of adjusting to life.

Now that the first few episodes are out, Gypsy Rose Blanchard's sister, Mia Blanchard, is reacting to the docuseries, including the "cringy" moments that were aired.

"Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up" aired its first two episodes, with new episodes airing on Lifetime on Mondays, and it has been a hit with Gypsy Rose Blanchard fans.

“Ever since my case was all over the media, all over the news, people have been on this journey with me, and I think that I’ve outgrown this prison version of myself that I think a lot of people have come to associate me with,” she said in the series. “I want to be Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a survivor, an advocate for people that have been through what I have been through, and I want to be someone that my family could be proud of.”

After watching the docuseries, many have commented on events following her prison release, including Gypsy's half-sister, Mia Blanchard.

As The Blast previously reported, many have criticized her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson, for his "controlling" and "cringy" behavior. Others have accused him of acting like Gypsy Rose Blanchard's mom, who abused and controlled Gypsy her entire life until she was murdered in June 2015.

"He tries speaking for her, just like her mom would do," one social media user expressed after seeing the first episode.

Another viewer commented, "Ryan, this first episode, you lost my vote too overbearing, controlling, and the cringy rubbing on her. You could tell it made her uncomfortable."

This behavior continued into the second episode, with Gypsy herself telling Ryan that he was treating her like a baby and an idiot when they discussed adopting a puppy.

For those who have not yet seen the episode, Ryan was telling Gypsy how big of a "responsibility" it is to care for a puppy, which made Gypsy feel belittled and like he was acting like her mom.

Not only have fans reacted to the "cringy" moments, but Mia Blanchard has also.

As the second episode of "Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up" aired on Lifetime, Mia Blanchard shared her reaction to the events documented in the series.

"Me watching this right now is like ... I'm so excited to watch this even though I was there," she told her fans as the episode played in the background. In one scene, Mia was talking to Gypsy Rose on the bed about sex, pregnancy, birth control, and whether now is the right time to have a baby. The conversation touched fans' hearts everywhere, as they loved seeing the sisterly bond between the two.

"I look forward to these episodes," she added. "I was there, but I still love watching it."

Later in her video, she commented on the "cringy" moments aired. "But it's all part of the experience I guess," she said.

After seeing Mia Blanchard's reaction to the episode, many agreed with her, calling some of the events "cringy." While Mia didn't say which moments left her feeling uneasy, many speculate it had to do with Gypsy Rose Blanchard's ex-husband.

"Girl we’re cringing too," one user wrote. "So glad Gypsy has you, though. You definitely feel like a safe space for her, I bet."

"Ryan talking for her all the time has been the hardest to watch for me," another expressed.

Gypsy even commented on her video, "Girl I know."
