Matty Healy has reacted to speculations by Taylor Swift's fans about his Instagram post featuring Charli XCX's song "So I."

The song was written about a friend who passed away. However, fans of Swift began speculating that Healy posted about it to allude to his whirlwind romance with Swift.

Healy seemingly responded to speculation from Swift's fans regarding a recent Instagram post.

The controversy arose when the 1975's frontman shared Charli XCX's poignant song "So I" about her late friend Sophia with lyrics like "always" having someone on your mind after "push[ing them] away,"

Swift's fans, known as Swifties, then speculated that Healy's post may have been a message to the pop star with one fan writing: "Are we reaching to think that this lyrics on HIS story could be a signal to Taylor??"

In response, a user on X (formerly Twitter) suggested, "We need a new psychological term for a contemporary form of narcissism that is somehow not refracted internally onto the self but rather onto the object of a standom."

Another added: "Imagine eulogizing your best friend who died so young and now legions of the most annoying teenagers alive are analyzing it for Taylor lore."

According to Page Six, Healy acknowledged the comment by liking a screenshot of the interaction that was posted to Instagram.

An Us Weekly report alleged that Healy is amused by Swift's album "The Tortured Poets Department." The album, released in April, reportedly caught the "1975" frontman off guard, but he now finds it "hilarious."

A friend of Healy told the news outlet that some of the lyrics suggesting Swift and Healy had discussed having children and living together weren't true, stating, "It had never even come up."

The alleged friend added that although Healy felt "completely blindsided" by the "lyrical content" in "TTPD," he is "taking it in stride."

Although the album explores Swift's relationships with Joe Alwyn and Travis Kelce, some tracks like "Down Bad," "But Daddy I Love Him," and "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" are believed to reference her past fling with Healy.
