Kristin Cavallari Links Weight Loss To Being 'Unhappy' While Married To Jay Cutler

Kristin Cavallari is shedding light on a time when her life was not as picture-perfect as it seemed. 

The reality TV star recently revealed how her weight dipped to an unhealthy level during a period of unhappiness in her marriage to former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler.

Now that she and Jay Cutler are in a better place as exes, Kristin Cavallari says stepping on the scale now tells a different story.

Cavallari revealed dramatic weight loss while filming 'Very Cavallari' was due to stress and unhappiness. The TV personality, who headlined the series from 2018 to 2020, was married to former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler during this period.

The couple, who got hitched in 2013, split in 2020 and share three children — Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor. Reflecting on her slimmed-down appearance during the show's run, Cavallari admitted, "I was very thin." To provide context, she explained:

"I'm 5'3". I currently weigh 114 pounds. While filming Very Cavallari, I dropped to 102, despite eating the same amount as I do now."

In the fans' Q&A on her podcast, "Let's Be Honest With Kristin Cavallari," the actress attributed the weight loss to immense stress and an unhappy marriage.

"The difference was I was so unhappy and so stressed out. And you guys, that was just stress. That was being in a really unhappy marriage, quite honestly," "The Hills" alum shared.

Reflecting on that challenging time, Cavallari noted, "I look back at photos from that period and think, 'Holy sh-t.' I was rail f-cking thin. I was skin and bones. I looked like sh-t. I think I look so much better now."

Now that Cavallari has found a healthier and happier chapter in her life, it could be attributed in part to her improved relationship with ex-husband, following their challenging marriage.

Last November, The Blast observed that in that month's episode of her podcast, the 37-year-old expressed how far they had come. In her words, Cavallari enthusiastically shared:

"I never thought we would get here. I never thought we would get here. I didn't. I'm so happy about it. Oh my god. I'm so happy about it because, you know, everyone wins when parents are on good terms."

The mother-of-three emphasized the importance of their amicable relationship, noting, "My kids see it, I mean, it's just easier. And listen, I get it. When people's hearts are breaking, it's really difficult. It's really, really difficult, and so, you know, seeing Jay happy is the best."

Following her advice to those facing relationship challenges, Cavallari then described the former football quarterback as "one of my soulmates." 

Despite the sentiment, the podcaster acknowledged that soulmates do not always come with a fairy-tale ending. "I think we can have soulmates, and they can be really difficult relationships in order to spur growth for both people," she explained.

Reflecting on the lessons learned, Cavallari expressed gratitude for the growth these tough relationships brought into her life. 

Her revelations highlighted the journey she and Cutler had undergone since their highly publicized split, showing just how much progress they made in finding peace and mutual respect.

Since Cavallari split from Cutler, the blonde bombshell has switched things up in the romantic department by dating Mark Estes. 

Luckily for the reality TV star, Estes has proven to be a straight shooter in matters of the heart as revealed during his March 2024 appearance on Cavallari's podcast. 

The viral Montana Boyz band member disclosed that he sparked a romance with Cavallari through a bold and direct message. The Blast reported that the singer shared the intriguing details of their initial interaction, stating:

"I thought I was on my own account, but I was on the Montana Boys account, and I DM'd Kristin and I said, 'I love you' right off the bat. So there we go." 

Despite Estes' minor faux pas, the 24-year-old still expressed gratitude for the action as it did nothing to stop their love story from happening. "I wouldn't have seen it. Because I didn't know your name at the time," Cavallari also noted.
