Donald Trump is offering a peek into his father-son relationship with his youngest son, Barron Trump. In a recent interview, Trump shared updates about Barron's college entry efforts while acknowledging the toll his New York hush money trial has taken on the young man.
He also revealed that the criminal trial, in which he was found guilty, and his 2024 campaign have also affected his wife, Melania, who is understood to be keeping Barron behind a protective "bubble" at their Mar-a-Lago resort.
Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide hush money payments made to former adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Donald Trump Says Barron Doesn't Want To Open Up
In a new interview with Phil "Dr. Phil" McGraw, the former president discussed his New York hush money trial's impact on his family, especially his wife, Melania, and his youngest son, Barron.
Trump had been battling a New York trial where he was alleged to have falsified business records to cover up a $130k payment he made to former adult film star Stormy Daniels to buy her silence over an alleged one-night stand. He has been found guilty on all 34 count charges and awaits sentencing, which is scheduled for July 11.

In the conversation, which was shared on X, McGraw asked him if there had been "blowback on Barron because he's younger and more vulnerable," to which Trump replied, "It's not easy."
The billionaire politician went on to add that Barron "doesn't say it" and that he thinks the teenager "doesn't say it because he doesn't want to hurt me, and he thinks it's possibly a hurtful conversation."
"But it has to affect my family, and I think that's really very unfair. Because I have a very good family; I have good kids, I have a wonderful wife," he added.
Donald Trump Gives Update On Barron's College Decision
Just before he weighed in on the impact his legal troubles have had on his son, Trump revealed how Barron's college entry effort is coming along.
Barron, who recently turned 18, graduated from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach last month, as Trump and Melania, as well as Grandpa Victor Knavs, attended the ceremony.
The youngster was tipped to follow in his father's footsteps after he was named among Florida's at-large representatives to the Republican Party National Convention before Melania's office announced that he'll not be honoring the nomination due to "previous commitments."
Speaking to McGraw about Barron's college entry, Trump said, "He's a great kid—he's a good student, he got accepted to different colleges."
He continued, "Some of those colleges, all of a sudden, they're rioting all over the place. But he's a good boy. He's a tall boy, very tall, and he's a great kid. Good-looking kid. And, you know, he's going to be at college."
The Former President Also Shared How Melania Is Dealing With The Legal Battles
The former host of "The Apprentice" also shed some light on his wife, Melania's well-being. He stated that the mother-of-one has also seemingly found it hard to cope with the trial.
Melania was notably absent from the courtroom throughout the duration of Trump's trial and had barely appeared on his campaign trails, sparking speculations about her objection to his potential 2024 White House return.
During the interview, McGraw asked him how the former first lady was "holding up through all this."
"I think good," he replied. "But I don't think it's an easy thing for her, and I think if it wasn't good, she wouldn't want to tell me about it, to be honest."
He went on, "Because, you know, she sees that I'm fighting like hell; I'm trying to become president and make America great again."
"I have a wonderful wife - I mean, it's not easy for her to read about this stuff, that's fake - fake stuff," he added. "But that's the way it is. It certainly is not a good thing. It affects me more than it would if it were just about me—I wish it would be just about me."
The Trump Family Is Rallying Behind Their Patriarch
Sources revealed that the guilty verdict in Trump's hush money trial has seemingly caused his family members to stand firm behind him in support.
According to Page Six, the source disclosed that the verdict has now "brought the entire family closer together than they have ever been," including "a thaw in the sometimes chilly and tense relationship between Melania and Ivanka."
"The entire family including all Trump's children, and their [significant others, including Don Jr.'s fiancee] Kimberly Guilfoyle are all circling the wagons," the source added.
Melania And Barron Trump Were Seen Leaving Trump Tower
According to the New York Post, Melania was seen leaving Trump Tower on Tuesday with Barron by her side. She kept her head down as she made her way into a Black Secret service SUV with at least seven Louis Vuitton luggage bags.
In his Interview with McGraw, Trump stated that his family "tolerates" his media scrutiny and legal woes out of patriotism and faith in him.
"I think to a certain extent, my family wants me to do it. Our country's in trouble. We could be in a world war very soon," Trump told the host, adding, "My family loves this country, and I think they feel I do a good job."
