Cillian Murphy's co-star on "Peaky Blinders" revealed a startling fact about filming the show.

Anyone who has watched even a couple episodes of "Peaky Blinders" will catch on to the fact that Tommy Shelby is almost always puffing on a cigarette. But what viewers probably didn't realize is just how many cigarettes actor Cillian Murphy goes through during filming.

In an interview with the British Film Institute, his co-star Helen McCrory -- who plays Aunt Polly -- let us in on this little nugget:

"Cillian apparently, and I can't remember which season, the props guys reckoned about a thousand.

"No actors were killed in the making of 'Peaky Blinders.' We don't inhale."

But don't worry: those aren't real cigarettes -- they're herbal so as to not kill the actors from lung cancer before the end of the series.

For those eager to see more of Tommy puffing away, BBC One released the trailer for season 5 on Tuesday. There is still no release date for the new season, but it will be sometime this fall.
