Brad Pitt Is 'Upset' About His Daughter Shiloh's Decision To Only Use Angelina Jolie's Last Name

Brad Pitt is reportedly unhappy that his daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt filed to drop his last name, indicating his loss of connection with his children. Shiloh hired and paid for her own lawyer to change the name.

Pitt's other children have also distanced themselves, with Vivienne and Zahara using "Jolie" and his sons Maddox and Pax avoiding his last name. Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who divorced in 2016, remain in a prolonged legal battle over custody and assets.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is the only child who has taken legal steps to sever ties with the Hollywood star, Brad Pitt.

According to a source who spoke to People magazine, Pitt is "aware and upset" that Shiloh has filed to remove his last name from hers on her 18th birthday.

The insider shared that the move signifies another reminder that the 60-year-old Oscar winner has "lost his children."

"He's aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name," the source revealed. "He's never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter."

On the legal documents obtained by The Blast, Shiloh ticked "personal" as her reason for wanting to change her last name.

Before the birth of Shiloh, Pitt was already in the process of legally adopting a daughter with his then-partner, Angelina Jolie. In July 2005, Jolie traveled to Ethiopia to adopt her first daughter, Zahara, 19, with Pitt accompanying her on the trip.

By December 2005, Pitt was reported to be in the process of adopting Zahara, a month before the "Maleficient" actress announced her pregnancy with Shiloh in January 2006.

"The reminders that he's lost his children is, of course, not easy for Brad," the source added. "He loves his children and misses them. It's very sad."

Shiloh reportedly paid for her own lawyer to oversee the legal process. If her name change request is approved, the 18-year-old will drop "Pitt" from her original name, "Shiloh Jolie-Pitt," and only go by "Shiloh Jolie."

According to earlier reports, Pitt's youngest daughter, Vivienne, listed her name as "Vivienne Jolie" in the Playbill for "The Outsiders" musical, where she assisted her mother, Angelina. At the time of writing, it is unclear if Vivienne has legally changed her name, as she is a minor and would likely need parental consent or special circumstances to do so before turning 18.

Meanwhile, Pitt's third daughter, Zahara, introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie" when joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College last year. Furthermore, his oldest sons, Maddox and Pax, haven't publicly used their father's last name in years and have remained apathetic toward him, with Pax openly calling Pitt a "terrible father."

Pitt and Jolie met on the set of their iconic "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" movie and began their public relationship shortly after the actor finalized his divorce from Jennifer Aniston in 2005. However, the estranged couple didn't get married until 2014, despite having multiple adopted and biological children together.

However, their fairytale romance hit the rocks in 2016 when the "Eternals" actress filed for divorce following a notorious private jet confrontation. In 2019, they were declared legally single and have been involved in a prolonged divorce battle over assets and custody.

In an FBI report released in 2022 of the infamous private jet fight, Jolie accused Pitt of physical assault. According to Jolie, Pitt, who was intoxicated at the time, grabbed her by the head, shook her, and pushed her down in a confrontation allegedly involving their children.

The 49-year-old reported that Pitt told the children she was "f--ing up this family" and punched the airplane ceiling four times. She also claimed he poured beer on her and a blanket covering multiple children.

Pitt recently accused Jolie of deliberately undermining his relationship with their children. According to court documents obtained by Fox News, Pitt's former security guard, Tony Webb, claimed the actress manipulated the children's schedules to "avoid spending time" with their father during custody visits.

Webb, who managed the couple's security firm, also alleged that Jolie's aide, Michael Vieira, contacted him to prevent two security guards under non-disclosure agreements from testifying in the custody case.

"During the call, Mr. Vieira told me that he had heard that two contractors who had provided personal security for Ms. Jolie through SRS Global might be testifying in the family court case," Webb revealed. "Mr. Vieira then asked me to stop these two individuals from testifying."
