Iconic actor Robert De Niro, who has been at loggerheads with the former president for a while now, could not contain his excitement at the viral news, but he still believes there is much to be done regarding the elections.

The actor expressed his satisfaction following the recent guilty verdict of former President Donald Trump, who was convicted on all 34 counts in his hush-money case.

This conviction marked Trump as the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges. De Niro shared his thoughts at a Cinema Society screening of his new movie, "Ezra," in New York City. 

When asked about his reaction to the verdict, the TV personality said, "I'm always very weary. I don't wanna get too excited about anything." 

However, he still went on to acknowledge that the verdict was appropriate and fair. In his words, "It's as it should be. Justice has been served. That's it."

His statement underscored his belief in the justice system while maintaining a realistic perspective. Despite the conviction, De Niro remained cautious about Trump's political future, particularly regarding the 2024 presidential election. 

"For me, it's not over 'til it's over," he commented before describing the fervent support the former president enjoyed from his followers as "craziness."

The 80-year-old also spoke about his plans to continue campaigning for President Joe Biden. When asked if he would do more, De Niro told Page Six, "I'm planning on it. We'll see at this point."

As for Trump, who De Niro accused of wanting to "destroy" the United States, was found guilty on all counts by a Manhattan jury.

During the reading of the verdict, the jury foreman stood and pronounced "guilty" for each of the 34 charges in the indictment.

With each repetition, Trump sat slouched in his seat, his demeanor reflecting the gravity of the moment. 

Scheduled for sentencing on July 11, he awaits his fate, which could entail up to four years in federal prison, though probation remains a possibility.

Despite his outward demeanor, The Blast reported that after the historic verdict in his criminal trial,  Trump reiterated his claim that he was being targeted by Biden.

While speaking with the press outside the courtroom, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for the upcoming election declared:

"Our whole country is being rigged right now. This was done by the Biden administration in order to wound, to hurt an opponent. A political opponent." 

Expressing his determination to challenge the decision, Trump vowed to appeal the verdict, emphasizing that the fight is far from over.

"We'll keep fighting, we'll fight till the end, and we'll win because our country has gone to hell. We don't have the same country anymore, we have a divided mess," he emphatically stated.

In a fervent conclusion, Trump reiterated his commitment to defending the Constitution and promising to continue the battle.

Following his father's remarks on the verdict, Donald Trump Jr. shared his thoughts, expressing disappointment and frustration with the outcome.

"Obviously [it's] just a sad day for America. Crazy what's going on in this country. Obviously [no one was] probably expecting anything different with this jury, with this biased judge, whose daughter is profiteering from this stuff," Donald Jr. remarked. 

He also emphasized his belief that the Democrats contributed to the country's decline. In his words:

"The Democrats have succeeded in their years-long quest to turn our country into an absolute cr-p hole. They've done that. They've been trying for a long time. There's literally no other way about it at this point."

In response to the actor's recent criticisms, Trump did not hold back, launching his own scathing remarks via his Truth Social page.

The Blast noted that the 77-year-old began by mocking De Niro's stature, both mentally and physically, stating, "I never knew how small, both mentally and physically, Wacko Former Actor Robert De Niro was."

Referring to the actor's critical comments as symptomatic of "TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME," Trump took aim at the Oscar winner's mental state and implied a decline in his physical health.

The billionaire mogul also did not shy away from attacking De Niro's career, suggesting that it has gone "WAY DOWN IN VALUE." Trump noted that the decline began since the actor got into the "political arena at the request of Crooked Joe Biden."
