Former NBA Star Amar'e Stoudemire Divorce Dismissed, Remains Married to Alexis Welch

Ex-NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire decided not to follow through with his divorce and the case has been dismissed.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a Florida judge dismissed the divorce filed by Stoudemire, for failing to file the proper documents to move it along.
Stoudemire originally filed for divorce from Alexis Welch back in October 2018. He never served her with the legal papers and had asked for an extension to do so in February.
However, the ex-NBA star never followed through and this caused the judge to dismiss the entire case this month. Despite the filing, the two never officially divorced and remain married.
Welch, who has been living her best life traveling this summer, continues to go by Alexis Stoudemire on her social media accounts, .
As The Blast first reported, Stoudemire filed for divorce from his wife, Alexis Welch, of nearly six years, a little more than a year after it was revealed he fathered a love child.
The former NBA star filed a petition for dissolution of marriage with minor children against Welch, citing their marriage as "irretrievably broken."
At the time of his filing, Stoudemire noted that he was "temporarily staying in Jerusalem, Israel for business, but will return to the State of Florida in a few months, and he remains a permanent resident of Florida.
He noted that they signed a prenuptial agreement prior to their marriage, which covers all issues of property or spousal support. He says the only thing it does not address is child support and a parenting plan.
Stoudemire wanted the court to approve the agreement and the terms of the deal.
The NBA star had been dating Alexis since the early 2000s and the two finally made it official with a wedding in 2012. They share four kids together: Ar’e. Amar’e Jr., Assata and their youngest son, Alijah, was born in 2013.
The divorce petition came after it was revealed Stoudemire fathered a love child with a Florida woman named Quynn Lovett.
Back in April 2017, Lovett sued Stoudemire for paternity and sought child support for a baby girl named Zoe Renee, who had been born the previous year. Stoudemire responded to the suit by admitting he could be the father and revealing he had been paying the woman temporary child support without a court order.
Lovett accused him of not being involved with the pregnancy and demanded he be ordered to pay support.
The case dragged on for months but eventually settled in October 2017 once a DNA test came back confirming that Stoudemire was indeed the father of the baby girl. The terms of their settlement were sealed from the public.
Amar'e Stoudemire had a lot at stake if the divorce continued— he made $161 million during his 15-year NBA career. After leaving the NBA, he signed a deal to play for an Israeli pro basketball team in Jerusalem.
