Donald Trump has responded to the recent demeaning comments about him made by actor Robert De Niro. The actor was one of several high-profile individuals who spoke at a Joe Biden press conference outside the courthouse where the billionaire mogul's court session was holding.
De Niro labeled Trump a "clown" and criticized his politics, among other disparaging remarks. In response, the former president referred to the actor as a "wacko" and claimed that De Niro's brand has "gone way down in value" since he began supporting Biden.
Donald Trump Calls Robert De Niro A 'Wacko Former Actor'
Following De Niro's mocking tirade of Trump on Tuesday, where the actor referred to the former president as a "clown" and harshly criticized his politics, Trump has fired back with his own scathing remarks.
The billionaire mogul took to his Truth Social page to deliver a response, saying that the actor is mentally unbalanced and implying that his physical health might also be in decline.
Trump began his tirade by saying, "I never knew how small, both mentally and physically, Wacko Former Actor Robert De Niro was."
The former president continued by stating that De Niro "suffers from an incurable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME," a term he frequently uses to describe opponents or critics who he believes are irrationally obsessed with disparaging him and his politics.
Trump also took a shot at De Niro's "movies, artistry, and brand," claiming that it has gone "WAY DOWN IN VALUE" since he entered the "political arena at the request of Crooked Joe Biden."
De Niro Claims Donald Trump Wants To Ruin The Country
At the press conference, De Niro could be seen fiercely criticizing Trump in a manner that appeared spontaneous and unscripted, even though he could be seen holding a script.
While professing his love for his country, the "Killers of the Flower Moon" star claimed that the former president was intent on ruining it and possibly the entire world.
He told the press, "I love this city; I don't want to destroy it. Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country, and eventually, he could destroy the world."
De Niro took things up a notch by slamming Trump as just another "grubby real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot," "a two-bit playboy lying his way into the tabloids," and a "clown."
He also clashed with MAGA supporters at the scene, calling one "a f–king idiot" and accusing the former president of buying their "votes with outrageous lies and empty promises."
Robert De Niro Wants Donald Trump To Go To Jail Regardless Of Jury's Verdict
During an off-script moment, De Niro weighed in on Trump's ongoing hush money trial, where the former president is facing 34 counts of falsifying his business records to hide illegal payments made to a former adult star.
According to the actor, he believes that Trump is "guilty" of the charges, regardless of whether the jury decides on an opposing verdict.
"The fact is whether he's acquitted, whether it's hung jury, whatever it is, he is guilty, and we all know it," De Niro said, per The New York Times. "I've never seen a guy get out of so many things, and we all know this. Everybody in the world knows this."
When questioned about whether he desired for Trump to be in jail, De Niro did not mince his words, replying firmly, "I sure do. Absolutely."
The Academy Award Winner Said Donald Trump Wants To Be A 'Dictator'
During his speech, De Niro encouraged listeners to vote for Joe Biden, adding that reelecting Trump would spell doom for democracy in the country.
"I can tell you right now. He will never leave," De Niro said, per DailyMail. "Do we want him running this country and saying I'm not leaving, I'm dictator for life?"
In an earlier interview with Bill Maher, DeNiro called Trump a "monster," noting that the billionaire would be a "nightmare" if reelected president.
He said, "We wanna live in a world that we want to live in and enjoy living in, or live in a nightmare? Vote for Trump and you'll get the nightmare, vote for Biden and we'll be back to normalcy."
Hush Money Trial Set For Jury Deliberations Following Attorneys' Concluding Remarks
Since the start of the week, the prosecutors and defense have been given the concluding remarks in the hush money trial, their final attempts at trying to sway the jury in their favor.
On Wednesday, the 12-man jury, made up of seven males and five females, will then receive instructions from presiding judge Juan Merchan on what law should be deemed relevant when making their decisions.
The deliberations are expected to take 3–4 days, after which the jury could unanimously convict or acquit Trump of the charges. A "hung trial" is also a possibility, which would lead to the judge declaring a mistrial.
