Donald Trump Sells 'Very Special' Private Jet Worth $10 Million Amid Surging Legal Bills

Donald Trump is all about keeping his head above water despite his mounting legal troubles. The former president has reportedly sold one of his private jets to an American business magnate for $10 million as his pockets continue to take a hit due to his surging legal costs.
This recent jet sale comes as his New York hush money trial enters its penultimate phase. Lawyers are expected to make their closing arguments in court today before the jury makes a verdict that could make history.
Donald Trump Sells Private Jet
The former president has resorted to selling off some of his prized assets as the costs of his legal bills continue to spike.
According to the Daily Beast, Trump's DT Air Corp company sold his 1997 Cessna jet to a Texas outfit called MM Fleet Holdings LLC, which is tied to Iranian-American construction mogul Mehrdad Moayedi. The jet's selling price is set at $10 million, although the terms of the transaction were not shared publicly.
On the Trump Aviation website, the billionaire mogul bragged about the Cessna, describing it as a "very special feature within the Trump Aviation fleet."
Moayedi is a big Republican party donor. He gave about $250,000 to a political committee for Trump's 2020 campaign and has also handsomely donated to other GOP candidates, including the RNC, Sen. Ted Cruz, and Nikki Haley.
Trump's sale of his jet comes amid his struggle to stay afloat with his mounting legal bills. The billionaire politician has been embroiled in several legal battles - ranging from assault charges to hush money allegations - since he left office and has spent over $100 million in legal fees.
How Long Will Donations Suffice For The Ex-President's Legal Bills?
According to Newsweek, a large portion of Trump's legal bills have been bankrolled by his supporters following donations made to his political action committee. However, that begs the question of how much longer the donations would suffice and whether they'll keep coming in just to pay his lawyers.
In March, Bloomberg reported that his campaign only had access to $6.8 million. He has since been fined several times, including a $10,000 charge for flouting the gag order in his ongoing hush money trial.
Trump was slammed with a $454 million civil fraud judgment in February but was allowed to post a bond of $175 million in April after he appealed to lower the bond, with his lawyers noting that it was a "practical impossibility" to post the original fine.
He has also been indicted in several other federal cases, including alleged election interference in Georgia, attempting to overturn the 2020 U.S. presidential election, and mishandling of classified documents.
The Former President's Hush Money Trial's End Draws Near
The end of the billionaire mogul's hush money trial is near. The Republican presidential hopeful is accused of falsifying company records to cover up an alleged $130k payment to former adult film star Stormy Daniels.
According to CNN, lawyers are set to make their closing arguments in the case on Tuesday before the jury makes a verdict.
If convicted, Trump would become the first U.S. president in history to be convicted of a crime. His lawyers only need one of the seven men and five women jurors to stand firm against a unanimous guilty verdict for that possibility to be overturned.
Michael Cohen's Questionable Testimony Might Help Donald Trump
Trump's defense team is expected to double down on the credibility of the former president's associate, Michael Cohen, who admitted on the stand that he was a liar and benefitted financially from mainstream media targeting Trump at the time.
His lead lawyer, Todd Blanche, argued in court earlier this month that Cohen is a conflicted witness and that the case shouldn't go to the jury.
"He testified. And he lied under oath in this courtroom. And the consequences of that lie, if accepted by the jury, is a conviction, potentially," Blanche stated.
Legal experts have also questioned Cohen's testimony, with many noting that it did not help the prosecutors' case much.
Donald Trump Promises To Crush Pro-Palestinian Protesters
While conversing for support from deep-pocketed individuals on May 14, Trump said that he'll crush Pro-Palestinian protests on university campuses if his reelection bid becomes successful.
Speaking to a group of predominantly Jewish donors, the former president called the protests against Israel's war on Gaza a "radical revolution," adding that such demonstrations would be frowned upon if the group, which he joked were "98 percent of my Jewish friends," helped him beat Biden.
"If you get me re-elected, we're going to set that movement back 25 or 30 years," Trump said, per the Washington Post.
"One thing I do is, any student that protests, I throw them out of the country," he added. "You know, there are a lot of foreign students. As soon as they hear that, they're going to behave."
