Drake Bell Addresses Lori Beth Denberg's Accusations About Dan Schneider's Abuse

Weeks after Lori Beth Denberg accused Dan Schneider of abuse, former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell is speaking out and addressing those claims.

The 'Drake & Josh' star recently came forward as a sexual abuse victim in the docuseries, 'Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV.' Bell sat down with producers, telling them that Brian Peck had sexually abused him on multiple occasions while he was with the network.

After Bell came forward, many other stars have broken their silence, also accusing the network and other producers, including Dan Schneider, of abuse.

As The Blast reported, Lori Beth Denberg recently shared her experiences working with Dan Schneider. When speaking to Business Insider, the former 'All That' actress recalled an incident in which Schneider allegedly called her to his office and showed her p-rnographic material.

In 1995, around Denberg's 19th birthday, Nickelodeon's hit comedy series 'All That' had just wrapped up its first season. Denberg, one of the show's more prominent performers, was allegedly approached by a female producer regarding her weight.

After learning about the incident, Schneider was reportedly furious and told the Nickelodeon actress that he should have had that conversation with her because he understood the challenges of being overweight. Denberg mentioned that when she first met with Schneider, she appreciated his concern and support. However, the conversation soon took an unexpected turn and became sexual.

According to Denberg the former Nickelodeon producer pulled p-rn up on his computer and showed her clips, including the "grand finale" of a woman performing oral sex on a donkey.

"I feel like that is the first time he preyed on me," Denberg told Business Insider.

She also claimed she was put in multiple situations that made her feel uncomfortable, telling the outlet that Schneider verbally attacked her during shoots, exposed her to adult content on multiple occasions, and even engaged in sexual activities over the phone.

Looking back, Denberg finds the power dynamic troubling, especially given his position of authority and the fact that he was more than ten years older than her.

The 'Drake & Josh' star sat down with the 'TODAY' show, where he was asked about the claims made by Lori Beth Denberg, explaining that he "never met her."

When asked what he makes of the accusations, Bell said, "I can't comment on any of that because I wasn't around for any of that. I never experienced anything like that."

Bell has previously spoken out about his relationship with Schneider, who was the showrunner of 'Drake & Josh' at the time, claiming that he was the “only person” there for him after Brian Peck's arrest.

Schneider addressed Denberg's accusations, claiming they are "wildly exaggerated and, in most cases, false."

"As I have previously stated, there were times, particularly in the early years of my career, that I made mistakes and exhibited poor judgment as a leader," he told Business Insider. "If I did that with respect to Lori Beth, I sincerely apologize to her. But I cannot apologize for things I did not do."

Following the release of the docuseries, the former Nickelodeon producer apologized to anyone he hurt while working for the network:

“Watching over the past two nights was very difficult. Me facing my past behaviors, some of which are embarrassing and that I regret, I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology. I wish I could go back, especially to those earlier years of my career, and bring the growth and the experience that I have now and just do a better job and never, ever feel like it was okay to be an a–hole to anyone, ever."

He has also filed a lawsuit against the production companies, claiming that the docuseries misrepresented him as a sexual predator.

"While it is indisputable that two bona fide child sexual abusers worked on Nickelodeon shows, it is likewise indisputable that Schneider had no knowledge of their abuse, was not complicit in the abuse, condemned the abuse once it was discovered, and, critically, was not a child sexual abuser himself," the suit, obtained by The Blast, states.
