Lady Gaga Fan Claims Their Aunt Died Of COVID-19 After Singer Performed Sick

Hollywood star Lady Gaga recently revealed that she performed five shows while having COVID-19 despite concerns for her team's health.

She claimed that her reason for performing with COVID-19 was so she didn't disappoint fans who had "put themselves in harm's way" to see her.

However, Gaga's COVID confession has been met with severe backlash, with fans calling her "selfish." One viral post on X even claimed that Gaga's actions led to their aunt's death.

At a recent Q&A session for her HBO concert special, "Gaga Chromatica Ball," Lady Gaga revealed that she performed several shows despite testing positive for COVID-19 during the late stages of the pandemic.

Speaking to Variety, the 38-year-old singer recounted: "I did five shows with COVID. I shared it with everyone on my team, and I said, 'I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable at work, and you don't have to perform and you don't have to work that day."

The Grammy-winning artist explained that she made this tough decision because she "didn't want to let all the fans down."

She added that throughout the performances, she was concerned about the health of her team and constantly apologized during her quick costume changes. "I kept saying, 'I'm sorry. I'm so sorry,'" she revealed.

Gaga explained her reasoning behind the controversial decision: "The way that I saw it also was that the fans were all putting themselves in harm's way every day coming to the shows."

In a now-viral post on X, an alleged fan of Gaga claimed they attended one of the singer's shows with their aunt, who ended up dying afterward from COVID-19.

It read, "I'm sick to my stomach wtf my aunt and I went to the concert and my aunt got COVID and died within a week at the hospital. We just assumed she got it from the crowd but we were front and center near the barricade now we know it was actually her and the dancer's fault."

The post, which has over 100k likes, had netizens split, as some claimed it was the fan's fault, while others accused them of making up the story after Gaga's COVID confession.

One person commented, "Nope, that's all your fault. You went to a very crowded place and got sick from [COVID-19], and knew that was a risk. Also, the chance that it spread from Gaga and the dancers to y'all is so low."

Gaga's admission about performing while sick with COVID-19 has ignited major backlash from fans on X.

"Zero concern for the dozens of @IATSE members like myself who staff and make these shows possible. We have no choice but to be in close proximity to performers backstage (unlike the audience), so this is pretty disgusting and selfish behavior from Lady Gaga," one user commented.

"I wonder how many people around her were needlessly infected while she was earning money performing. The people applauding don't understand the ramifications of her actions," another person noted.

A third individual said, "And these people are supposed to be role models. Not heroic, not intelligent, not brave, not funny."

Another X user pointed out, "I don't think her public liability insurers will be happy with this statement. Makes the court cases easier though."

During the screening for her new HBO concert special, Gaga emphasized that despite the often "isolating" nature of show business, she "never" feels alone when with her fans.

"This industry can feel very isolating sometimes, but I never feel alone when I'm with my fans," she shared.

Additionally, the "Poker Face" hitmaker hinted at her upcoming seventh studio album, noting that it's "really different" from anything she has previously done.

Gaga expressed confidence in her fans' support, saying, "I have written so many songs, and I have produced so many songs. There's something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do."

Speaking to Access Hollywood on the red carpet of the screening, Gaga offered a glimpse into her upcoming project with Joaquin Phoenix.

"My version of Harley is mine and it's very authentic to this movie and these characters, and I don't want to give anything from the movie away," she told the news outlet. "I think it's really something you have to experience in the theater."

Gaga continued, "This film has music, it has dance, it has amazing acting in it. I loved working with Joaquin; I loved working with [director] Todd [Phillips]. What I will say is that I've never done anything like I've done in this movie before, so it's all going to be completely brand new and really fun."

She also mentioned the possibility of collaborating with Beyoncé again, 15 years after their hit "Telephone," teasing, "Whenever Beyoncé calls, I would like to pick up the phone."
