King Charles III is reportedly bent on distancing himself from his second child, Prince Harry, as he undergoes treatment for cancer.
Charles and Harry were recently within close distance when the Duke of Sussex came to the UK for the Invictus Games 10th anniversary, but they didn't see each other, with reports claiming that the King was "too busy."
Why King Charles 'Does Not Want To Be Bothered' By His Second Son Prince Harry
The monarch is seemingly fed up with the back-and-forth that has ensued between him and Harry over the years and is said to be distancing himself from the drama.
Royal commentator Michael Cole weighed in on the King's unbothered disposition toward his son, noting that it was in a bid to prioritize his health as he undergoes cancer treatment.
"I think it really is practicalities," Cole told GB News. "The King is facing an unspecified cancer. That is really a harrowing thing for any person to do."
He continued, "At the same time, he is the head of state and he has to maintain his duties and be out and be seen. He doesn't want his equilibrium to be upset."
"It is upsetting to him that his younger son has said such heartless and cruel things, not just about himself, but about Queen Camilla, and that has gone home harder than anything else he could do," Cole shared.
King Charles Finds The Feud With Prince Harry 'Emotionally Upsetting'
The royal commentator added that Charles finds the debacle with Harry "emotionally upsetting" and "doesn't want to be bothered" by it.
He went on, "I think any physician will tell you when you're undergoing treatment of this kind, the best thing to be is relaxed and clear your own mind."
"Let the physicians do their work, and get better as soon as possible, that is what he wants to do. It has been upsetting for him to see," Cole concluded.
The estranged father and son last saw each other in February, when Harry traveled down to the UK to see Charles after news of his cancer diagnosis went public.
King Charles And Prince Harry Did Not Meet During The Duke's Visit To The UK
When Harry visited the UK, reports surfaced about a potential reconciliation between him and his father, but that never happened.
A spokesperson for Harry noted at the time, "In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it, unfortunately, will not be possible due to His Majesty's full program. The Duke, of course, is understanding of his father's diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."
Charles and Harry's relationship has soured over the years due to the startling accusations he and his wife, Meghan Markle, made against the royal family after they resigned from their roles as working royals in 2020.
Their relationship has now seemingly worsened further after Harry and Meghan's recent trip to Nigeria.
King Charles Is 'Furious' About The Sussexes Trip To Nigeria
Days after they returned from their trip to the West African nation, reports claimed that Charles and Prince William were upset about the couple's visit because it allegedly resembled an official royal visit.
According to The Mirror, royal expert Tom Quinn said the couple's trip "confirmed the worst fears" of the monarchy, and it made Charles and his heir "absolutely furious."
"Everything you might expect from an official royal visit was there — the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled," he said. "Charles is said to be angrier than anyone has ever seen him."
"Meghan and Harry's speeches and their whole attitude has been designed to give the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals," Quinn noted, adding that William and Charles "don't like that one bit."
He went further to share that the monarchy fears that the former working royals have "gone rogue" and are "scratching their heads and thinking, 'How are we going to control this nightmare situation?'"
King Charles And Prince William Have 'Crossed Off' The Duke Of Sussex
Another Royal expert, Christopher Andersen, disclosed that the King and William have given up on mending their relationship with Harry and have already "crossed" him off.
"They have chosen to ignore Harry, to freeze him out, and to not let him get under their skin when they are facing so many critical challenges," Andersen told Fox News.
He went on, "In a way, I think that is even sadder. It's been said that hate isn't the opposite of love — indifference is."
"The King and Prince William are not surprised when Harry makes trips abroad, even when Meghan [Markle] accompanies him," Andersen added. "And I don't get the sense they begrudge Harry [for] his ties to Africa. Charles and William have crossed Harry off their list for a plethora of reasons, but making a brief trip with one reporter and one photographer in tow isn't one of them."
