Nicole Brown Simpson's life will be told in an upcoming Lifetime documentary, but the question many are asking is -- "Why now?"
While some may think the timing is due to O.J. Simpson's death, that couldn't be further from the truth.
O.J. Simpson Passes Away
In a statement released on Thursday, April 11, 2024, the Simpson family announced that O.J. Simpson passed away on April 10, 2024. "He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren," the family stated. "During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace."
Earlier this year, it was disclosed that O.J. had been undergoing chemotherapy following a prostate cancer diagnosis.
According to The American Cancer Society, "Almost all prostate cancers are adenocarcinomas. These cancers develop from the gland cells in the prostate (the cells that make the prostate fluid that is added to the semen). Other types of cancer that can start in the prostate include small cell carcinoma (small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma)."
'The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson'
The life and tragic death of Nicole Brown Simpson will be told in an upcoming Lifetime documentary series, and her sisters are speaking out about it.
Nearly 30 years ago, Nicole Brown Simpson was brutally murdered alongside her friend Ron Goldman. While O.J. Simpson was arrested for the crime, the jury eventually found him not guilty. As a way to remember Nicole, her sisters, Tanya, 54, Dominique, 59, and Denise, 66, will celebrate how beautiful Nicole's life was before the brutal murder.
“Other anniversaries just didn’t feel right,” Denise told PEOPLE Magazine of Nicole's 30th anniversary of her death. “But we decided 30 years was probably the best and the last time to hear her voice and tell her story."
Tanya added, “She’s not a dead body covered with a white sheet at the bottom of the stairs. That’s not Nicole. We want people to see this beautiful human being.”
Nicole Brown Simpson Is 'Dancing In Heaven'
When asked what their sister is doing right now, Tanya said, “Dancing in heaven. That’s what she’s doing."
“I’ve had lots of dreams about Nic,” she added. “She’s always in her jeans and a leather jacket, always happy, dancing, social. And she’s always still alive.”
As The Blast reported, Nicole Brown Simpson was the ex-wife of former NFL player O.J. Simpson, whom she met in 1977 while working as a waitress at a nightclub called The Daisy in Beverly Hills.
When the two first met, O.J. was still married to his first wife, Marguerite Whitley, but after their divorce, Nicole married the NFL player on February 2, 1985 and had two children together, Sydney and Justin.
However, shortly after the two married, there were multiple allegations of domestic violence, leading to Nicole filing for divorce in 1992, citing irreconcilable differences.
Nicole Brown Simpson's Tragic Death
Nicole was stabbed multiple times in the head and neck, and she had defensive wounds on her hands, indicating that she had tried to fend off the suspect, who was later named O.J. Simpson. Her throat was slashed so deeply that it nearly decapitated her.
Her tragic death drew public attention to issues of domestic violence, significantly impacting public awareness and influencing the legal approach to domestic abuse cases.
After being named a suspect, O.J. was supposed to turn himself in but, instead, led police on a slow-speed police car chase that was aired nationwide. During the hours-long chase, O.J. held a gun to his head, threatening to end his life.
"Don't do this. [Your kids] love you. Don't do it, O.J. It's going to work itself out," Detective Lange said, per a transcript obtained by CNN. "It's going to work. It's going to work. You're listening to me, I know you are, and you're thinking about your kids right now, aren't you? Aren't you?"

Ultimately, Simpson was acquitted of the murders in 1995.
In 2007, he faced twelve felony charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery. Thirteen years to the day after his acquittal in the double murder trial, the former NFL player was found guilty and sentenced to up to 33 years in prison.
