Johnny Depp could return to the upcoming 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' film -- that is if the decision were up to the producer.

Depp portrayed Jack Sparrow in all five 'Pirates of the Caribbean' films, including 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl' (2003), 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest' (2006), 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End' (2007), 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' (2011), and 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' (2017).

Disney's decision to fire Johnny Depp from the upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie stemmed from allegations by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. As The Blast previously reported, Heard publicly accused Depp of domestic abuse, but Depp sued her for defamation.

During the trial, Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn, asked the actor: “The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film? Correct?”

To which Depp confirmed he would never return as Jack Sparrow, stating, “That is true, Mr. Rottenborn.”

Amber Heard accused Johnny Depp of physical and sexual abuse throughout their relationship in an op-ed. Shortly after, Depp sued her for defamation, and the two battled it out in a six-week trial.

According to the 'Aquaman' actress, Depp would become verbally and physically abusive when under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and would throw objects, shove her, and hit her. She also described an alleged incident in Australia where Depp reportedly became violent and sexually assaulted her.

Depp denied all accusations and claimed Heard was the abuser in the relationship.

After nearly two days of deliberation, the jury determined that Heard acted with actual malice when writing her op-ed and awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages in his defamation suit.

While Depp seemingly said that no amount of money could get him to return as Jack Sparrow, producer Jerry Bruckheimer still wishes the actor would come back.

"It's a reboot, but if it was up to me, [Depp] would be in it," Bruckheimer told Entertainment Weekly of the upcoming project.

"I love him. He's a good friend. He's an amazing artist and he's a unique look," Bruckheimer added. "He created Captain Jack. That was not on the page, that was him doing a little Pepé Le Pew and Keith Richards. That was his interpretation of Jack Sparrow."

Currently, there is no word on whether Depp will appear in the upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean' project.

Johnny Depp Calls Jack Sparrow 'Pure'

A few years ago, when speaking with Heavy Magazine Australia, Johnny Depp called his iconic character "pure" and admitted that he feels like himself when portraying Jack Sparrow.

“Because of his irreverence, there is a purity to Jack [Sparrow]. There is just something about him that makes him just say whatever comes out of his mouth and then he deals with it," he said at the time. “Then he realizes it about five and a half seconds later because he is pretty scrambled up top. He can get away with things that we all wish that we could get away with and I feel that when I am playing Captain Jack.”

“There is a real safety in playing him for me because I (goes into Captain Jack’s voice) I can always answer back perfectly," he added.

Last year, a source close to the actor told PEOPLE Magazine that while Depp previously said he felt betrayed by Disney, he could potentially come back for more films.

“Anything is possible,” the insider said at the time. “If it’s the right project, he’ll do it.”

Shortly after, Disney Studio Motion Picture Production president Sean Bailey addressed the future of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movies, claiming Depp would fit right in.

“We think we have a really good, exciting story that honors the films that have come before but also has something new to say,” he told the New York Times.
