Actress Lashana Lynch is poised to become the first female 007 in the franchise's history. She'll also be the first African-American to play the role.

Media reports have quoted an unnamed source who says she will pick up the code name "007," in the movie, but not actually play James Bond. That goes to Daniel Craig again in the newest installment, simply known as "Bond 25" for now. Craig is expected to bow out after this as-yet-unnamed movie.

The source is calling the scene where there's a handoff to the new 007 a "pivotal" moment:

"There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, 'Come in 007,' and in walks Lashana, who is black, beautiful and a woman. It's a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he's been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman."

Lynch, as the new 007, is apparently going to Jamaica to get Bond out of retirement to help bring down the bad guys. She's called in by "M," played by Ralph Fiennes.

What would a Bond movie be without the usual sexual attraction angle? Says the source:

"Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don't work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning."

The new movie is being shot in Italy and the United Kingdom.
