Gypsy Rose Blanchard is bringing fans into her prison life experiences, sharing how they made an energy drink while behind bars.
According to a previous report by The Blast, the 32-year-old served eight and a half years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Her case garnered national attention due to claims that she was a victim of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, a type of child abuse where a caregiver fakes or induces illness in someone under their care.
Ever since being released, she has gained a massive following, and now fans want to know what it was like in prison.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Served Eight And A Half Years In Prison
In 2015, Gypsy and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, conspired to kill Dee Dee, who had subjected Gypsy to years of abuse, convincing others that Gypsy was severely ill and disabled when she was actually healthy. This abuse was part of a pattern consistent with Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, where Dee Dee exaggerated or fabricated illnesses in Gypsy to gain attention and sympathy.
Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to ten years in prison. She accepted this plea deal and was released on parole in December 2023.
How To Make A Prison-Style Energy Drink
In response to a request from one of her fans, Gypsy Rose shared a video tutorial on how to make an energy drink while serving her sentence. Step one is to gather the ingredients, which consist of a bag of Jolly Ranchers, a box of Kool-Aid Hawaiian Punch mix, a Strawberry Fanta, and Folgers Instant Coffee.
To begin making the drink, crush up the two Jolly Ranchers of the same flavor. Then, take a "nice heaping scoop" of coffee and dump it in a cup with a little bit of water to make the instant coffee.
The instant coffee is then poured into a mixing bowl with a single packet of Kool-Aid mix and about 1/4 of a bottle of Fanta. Stir for about 30 seconds, and then add the crushed-up Jolly Ranchers. Pour over ice, and there you have it!

Gypsy Rose Blanchard Talks About Her Mother's Murder
In a Mother's Day post, the ex-convict acknowledged that her mother is no longer on this Earth, sharing, "It does not go without notice that my own biological mother is not here to celebrate Mother's Day, and what I choose to feel on Mother's Day regarding my own mother is that I think the best of her."
"I think about the good times. I think about her as not what she did to me but, I think about her as a person," she continued.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Says She Doesn't Think Her Mom Was A 'Good Mom'
"Do I think that was she a good mom? No. Do I think she was the best mom in the world? No, but she was still my mom, so what I choose to feel about her, whether that be guilt, anger, grief, resentment, whatever that's mine to feel, no one can take away my feelings about my own mother."
She said she chooses "to remember her for the good that was in her heart that I believe was there," and she's been working on "years of forgiveness." "I hope that she is in Heaven and I hope that to some degree I make her proud of at least some of the achievements that I made in my life," she added.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reflects On The Moment She Decided To Have Her Mom Killed
After suffering years of alleged abuse, Gypsy Rose Blanchard said she suffered from "panic" and desperation," which is what led to the decision to have her mom killed. "Because I was facing yet another surgery pretty soon, and I really did not want to have the surgery.”
“It was work on my neck, something about my voice and my vocal cords and my voice box, to figure out why my voice is so high-pitched," she explained. "And they thought the doctors attributed that to maybe a breathing issue. So they were going to do surgery on my larynx, and at that point, I was just not having it. I'm like, ‘I do not want to have the surgery.’ I expressed that to my mother.”
But Gypsy said there was “no debating” as her mother told her, “You're having it," and that's it. "There's no discussion to be had. And I felt in my heart, please change your mind. This life needs to change,” she continued.
“It's not like I didn't think about every other option besides murder. I did,” Gypsy added to PEOPLE.
