Amber Portwood‘s boyfriend told police the reality star became so enraged during an alleged domestic violence incident over the weekend, that she tried to break through an office door with a machete.
During a hearing in Indianapolis on Wednesday morning, the court granted a no-contact order against Portwood and set a cash bond of $2,000.
According to the probable cause affidavit obtained by The Blast (and first reported on by Ashley’s Reality Roundup), Andrew Glennon (the father of Portwood’s 1-year-old son) told police the couple got into an argument over trying to see fireworks on the Fourth of July.
He claims he dropped Portwood off at home and drove around with the baby for a little bit to give Portwood time to “cool off.” When he returned home, Glennon told police that Portwood “grabbed a shoe off the shoe rack and hit him with it. Mr. Glennon stated he was holding [the baby] and he turned to the side to avoid [the baby] getting hit with the shoe.”
Glennon claims he left the house again with the baby and drove around for three hours before returning with “a gift” and some food.
But when he returned, Glennon claims he went upstairs and Portwood “was coming at him like she was going to hit him.” He told police that Portwood “then threatened to kill herself” and that she “went to her drawer and took a handful of Klonopin and tossed it back like it was nothing.”
She later threw up the pills, he claims.
He then claims that Portwood “picked up a machete towards him and [the baby]. Mr. Glennon stated he locked himself and [the baby] into the office … Mr. Glennon stated she hit the door with the machete and kicked the door and broke the handle. Mr. Glennon stated that is when he called for help.”
Glennon later told police that Portwood had the machete for protection because, as a felon, she is not allowed to possess a firearm.
Portwood was arrested early in the morning of July 5 and hit with three serious felony charges.
According to court records, Portwood has been charged with domestic battery, criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon and domestic Battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old.
As The Blast previously reported, Portwood’s baby daddy went to court on July 9 and started the process to get custody of their child, 1-year-old James.
Glennon filed a petition for paternity and also for an emergency hearing regarding custody of their child.
