Selma Blair gained all the love in the world for bravely showing off her cane on Instagram as she stunned in swimwear back in October 2020. The Cruel Intentions star, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, proudly brandished her mobility aid in a series of stunning swimsuit snaps that fall, calling it "chic" and describing it as a total lifesaver. Selma, who went undiagnosed for 40 years, received her MS diagnosis in 2018.

Crossing her legs from a large doorway opening onto an outdoor space with pouring natural sunlight, Selma returned for another reminder of her enviable silhouette in a swipe right, this time holding her cane down to the floor as she rocked her pixie cut and showcased her chiseled features. Bending one leg in her final slide as she showcased her high arches while pointing one foot, the Dancing With the Stars alum wrote:
"When I used to get down as a teen, my mom would always offer up the option of buying a new hat. I don’t think I wore hats often but that was the joke. And I would smile. Now, what does bring a lift, is a new and iconic cane."

Calling her cane a "beauty" as she revealed having acquired it after her birthday, Selma even revealed that she'd cried. "I have the chicest canes," she continued, then vowing to stand "tall" with this Thom Browne one and to "use it with pride." Here, the Hollywood star noted that the cane isn't just helping her, it's helping others lead their lives. "Such a silver lining," she concluded. Fans flooded the comments with support, with the post also gaining a like from Oscar winner Halle Berry.
Since revealing her diagnosis prior to the global pandemic, Selma has further revealed a diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder often co-morbid with MS.

Of her EDS, Selma stated: "Ehlers Danlos will make you really stiff because I'll pull my muscles too easily ... so I get some injuries, but this is nothing that's like horrible scary stuff or anything." In January, the star offered an update on her MS status, saying that she's still in remission, but that living with the condition still means she's in pain.
"I hurt all all the time," she revealed.
