Donald Trump's Niece Says Former President 'Could Be In Jail By This Weekend'

Donald Trump's estranged niece, Mary Trump, is predicting that her uncle might be handed some jail time for repeatedly violating his gag order in relation to his hush money trial.
The former president's niece claimed in a statement that the judge presiding over the case is inclined to impose an "incarceratory punishment" rather than fines on Trump if he continues to violate the order.
Former President Donald Trump's Niece Thinks He Might Go To Jail Soon
Trump recently got handed a major loss in his hush money trial after Judge Juan Merchan found him to be in contempt of his gag order, which was instituted to stop him from targeting witnesses and jury members in his ongoing hush money trial.
Consequently, he was fined $9,000 for a mix of statements he posted on both his Truth social media platform and his campaign website.
As a billionaire mogul, Trump would likely find it easy to pay off the fine. However, his niece, Mary, believes that her uncle's wealth could be why he might face jail time as soon as this weekend if he defaults again.
This follows a tweet from CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins, who reported that Merchan expressed dissatisfaction with the law's limitation of fining Trump no more than $1,000 for his violations. It was also noted that the desired impact of the fine could not be achieved because the former president could easily afford it.
Mary responded to the tweet, writing, "Important note: Judge Merchan says jail might be necessary next time...and the next hearing is this Thursday. Donald could be in jail by this weekend."
Social Media Reacts To Mary Trump's Prediction
Despite Mary's firm conviction that Merchan would not hesitate to jail her uncle if he is found in contempt for violating his gag order again, some social media users expressed doubt that it would happen.
One person wrote, "The probability is fairly low," while another X user remarked, "The decision belongs to the court. It is very possible that Mr. Trump will be free like any other time…"
A third netizen commented, "I'll believe it when happens. He disobeyed the order 8 times and is free. No Black man in America would be afforded that leeway. The Judge is proving that political optics are more important than the rule of law in his courtroom."
One more X user wrote, "I'll believe it when I see it, Mary. One of the reasons we are in this position in the first place is [because] everyone has let Trump get away with everything that would have the rest of us in jail five times over. None of this is normal, yet sadly, it’s becoming our new normal."
The Ex-President Says It Will Be 'My Great Honor' To Go To Jail
While many might find the prospect of going to jail daunting, Trump appears to be taking it in stride. He has even gone so far as to compare himself to Nelson Mandela, who served a lengthy jail term as a freedom fighter before later becoming a president.
Taking to his Truth Social, Trump wrote, "I will gladly become a Modern Day Nelson Mandela — It will be my GREAT HONOR."
He had also previously drawn comparisons between himself and Jesus Christ, asserting that his legal challenges mirror the persecution faced by the historical figure.
Both comments prompted a scathing response from President Joe Biden's campaign spokesperson, Jasmine Harris.
He said in a statement, per The Mirror, "Imagine being so self-centered that you compare yourself to Jesus Christ and Nelson Mandela all within the span of little more than a week: that's Donald Trump for you."
Donald Trump Demanded His Gag Order Be Removed
On his Truth Social platform, Trump did not mince words while expressing his anger about the gag order placed on him. The former president even went as far as calling Merchan a "Trump-Hating" judge.
He wrote, "This conflicted, Trump-Hating Judge won't let me respond to people that are on TV lying and spewing hate all day long."
Trump continued, "He is running roughshod over my lawyers and legal team. The New York System of 'Justice' is being decimated by critics from all over the World. I want to speak or at least be able to respond. Election Interference! RIGGED, UNCONSTITUTIONAL TRIAL! Take off the Gag Order!!!"
The Ex-President's Son Says Hush Money Trial Is Politically Motivated
Trump recently received public support from his son, Eric Trump, after their joint appearance in court.
For the past two weeks, Trump has been appearing in court daily for his hush money trial as ordered by the court. Throughout this period, the billionaire mogul faced the proceedings without his family members until Eric joined him on Tuesday.
Eric took to X to criticize the trial, slamming it as unserious and "politically motivated."
He wrote on the social media platform, "There are hundreds of law enforcement officers, the streets are closed down for blocks around the courthouse and the entire district attorneys office is in attendance—their top prosecutors—all for $130,000 payment by a lawyer in 2016?"
He added, "No one believes this production is serious," he tweeted. "No one believes this isn't 1000% politically motivated."
