Hunnam played Nathan Maloney in the British cult hit "Queer As Folk," which ran from 1999 to 2000.

Hunnam's role in "Sons of Anarchy" led to his breakthrough American role in the movie Pacific Rim, in which he portrayed Raleigh Becket in Guillermo del Toro's film.
Hunnam was originally set to play the male protagonist, Christian Grey, in Fifty Shades of Grey, but had to drop out just weeks before shooting began. Apparently "Sons of Anarchy" got in the way.

Another role he almost snagged but passed on was playing Aldous Snow in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. But he dropped out of that too, basically saying the film "wasn't right" for him. The role went to Russell Brand.
